broken front mudflap

Just heard a bumping sound from the front drivers wheel,the mudflap was broke in half and hanging down. Does anyone know how much a dealer charges th replace one? How much would they charge to take them off?Thanks,

 

After reading about this being a common problem with the Tacoma's unnecessarily long front flaps, I removed mine a couple weeks after I bought the truck. You can easily remove and reinstall them yourself; it's just a few bolts and clips on either flap.

 

On my last 2005 Tacoma, I lost a total of 3 mudflaps, 2 in the front, 1 in the rear. I simply stopped replacing the front ones because it became obvious it was going to be recurring problem.

I was hoping that on my new 2012 this wouldn't be an issue...but maybe it will.

 

Just took the front two flaps off per stretch 85s instructions. thanks stretch 85. Will take the back ones off when one tears or breaks off.

 

Yeah, they are too long. I'd just take them off. Easy to do...avoid the dealer charge.

I took a pair of aviation snips and trimmed about 2 inches off the front flaps......no more problems

 

No. Only the fronts will break off and beat the hell out of the side of the truck like what happened to me. I took that as a queue to remove them all. I think the trunk looks better without them any way. If you like the stock mudflaps then the fix is to trim the fronts. Cut the bottom three inches off.

 

I just trimmed 3.5" off both front flaps yesterday. Super easy. Used tin shears to cut and worked up to 400 grit sand paper to make look factory clean. Took probably 30 min total.

 

I took all of mine off after I ripped the front one off when wheeling. The fronts are just way too long and hang way too low. You can trim them down and leave about 3 inches, which is enough to stop mud and rocks from flying off your tire onto your door.

I believe mudflaps from the dealer are around $100 each... No you don't buy them in pairs, its individual price. $100 each.

If you really want to replace them, run down to your local auto parts store and they sell mudflaps for $40/pair

 

Husky Liners makes a great replacement that is cheaper and shorter than the factory flaps. Check my build page for photos.

 

Maybe? No, it will be a problem. Molded plastic mudflaps are a problem period. They have to be flexible, like on the Taco Gen 1's. There's some solutions that don't involve removal.
