My heat source will be doing DHW and a small radiant slab. From what little I know, a water heater is better suited for the radiant heat. Something to do with the return temperatures from the slab (designed for around 85F).
But I'll look into it again, I've a design company doing the radiant specs. I'll ask them about the tankless.

Incidently, I think I've figured out why two identically sized water heaters would weigh 100 lbs different, due to the wall thickness of the tank?

well assuming its just a tinny lil hole i dont see any reason some jb weld or simular wouldnt be just fine.......
but if you want it done correctly then cut out the damaged section and install 2 couplings and a new piece of pipe or use some no hub clamps and a new piece of pipe

My shower leaks. Drips out of the shower head. I'm sure I'm wasting a shitload of water. Any advice? Thanks in advance for your help.

Wileyc--Is it a drain or vent? Either way it is a very simple fix to do it the right way, get a short section of pvc and 2 slip couplings

Not a plumber, but it's probably just the rubber seals in the on/off/flow control worn and leaking. Most of them are easy to replace with kits for the most common brands available at most hardware places.

i think it's drain/waste... can hear water running down it from upstairs sources... it's 3" sch. 40 pipe... i have this product on order:
    http://www.fernco.com/plumbing/pow-r-repair/pow-r-patch

i called ferno customer service, they told me the pow-r-patch will do a permanent fix of the pipe... curious what the pros think of this..

    looks like jb weld....
try it...and for extra security use a 3" fernco and slice it on one side and clap it around the jb weld or whatever u using...... this way u dont have to cut the pipe out...

i was thinking this too... one thing i don't like about cutting on this pipe to do a coupling is that it's introducing more penetration and having to couple it inside a wall cavity - not the best of conditions to ensure the job is done well... right now it's just a small hole, so i'm leaning toward patching the hole, not creating more to seal up... is my logic sound here?

Delta is very common, so just shut off the water supply to the shower, take apart the valve (very simple) get the valve seat parts out and head to Lowes.

What are the best brands for a residential electric water heater? Need to replace a 50 gallon one that has a slow leak. Seems like tankless isn't worth it yet especially now that there's no tax credit for them. And with well water it sounds like they would need constant maintenance to keep clear. So I think I'll stay with the regular tank heater, maybe add a timer since I'm one guy in a 2 bathroom house.

I have low water pressure. Had several plumbers say pressure at the meter is fine. They say it's the pressure reducing valve. But they can't seem to find it. Could it be buried in the ground, wall, or slab. Also if the line was damaged from meter to house, wouldn't I see signs of leaking? Thanks for any input.

Around my area all the of the PRVs are buried up near the house, usually in a flower bed. Had mine replaced last year and it was a pretty penny. The main line from the meter should be run mostly straight up to the house, and the PRV would be somewhere along there. Mine was actually in a box. When I was looking for it under the bushes I swore up and down that I didn't have it up front, but turns out the lid was buried under garden soil and mulch and such.

    How old is your house?
