I actually have a jeep now. Imagine that.
So i was killing some time today and made my way into radioshack....was initially looking for a switch for my new KC lights. that hunt failed but i did stumble upon something else. I saw some of the piezo buzzers that are used for the lock unlock chirp. I said hell why not, and spent the 3 bucks on one and decided to piddle around with the mod when i got home. Well unfortunately I got home and checked about wiring it up with a switch to the flashers and realized, "i've done the dtrl and alternating turn signal mods, due to the fact that they all share a common ground and power supply, you can't wire in a piezo buzzer without it going off with the turn signal too!" we'll i would not accept defeat so i got the link for the FSM (factory service manual) and started reading wire diagrams (lucky for you i know how to so you don't have to). Heres my approach to the LOCK/UNLOCK chirp mod so that you can keep your other mods intact.

First you will need the following supplies:

1 piezo buzzer for unlock OR lock/ 2 piezo buzzers for both lock and unlock
wire caps and electrical tape/ or soldering iron and heatshrink
    wire....
    wire cutters and strippers
    10mm socket wrench
    flat head screw driver
    phillips head screw driver
    duct tape
    3m foam tape
    patience

    Here it goes!

    Here is the piezo Buzzer:

    DSC02094_1543cf1084313a6f180df2745aa276515295a03b.jpg

First, remove your drivers side door panel following this thread:

    http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/audio-video/3198-speaker-upgrade-basic-how-2nd-gen-access-cab.html

Next get your wire and get ready for the hardest part. running a wire through the waterproof wire loom between the door and the body:

    DSC02090_b565e91074b56a6ab635cf7c49806961ec74c734.jpg

remove the speaker for better access to the loom (rubber thing)
as you can see, I used a blue and silver wire set up (using blue as my positive and silver as my negative) once you get it through that loom pull the wire out the door (look on the left side of the door, you'll see that gray metal panel and where i pulled the wire through.) I pulled the wire this way so that it did not interfere with the window rolling down in any way.

    DSC02089_358b96554d70e83c74ff4c817e890d89163d1e1f.jpg

pull the wire up to where the LOCK/UNLOCk motor is (furthest left plug)

If you look at the wiring harness plugged in there, there will be several wires. First, look for the blue/pink(or red) stripe wire. This will be the positive wire. Next, lookd for the blue/black stripe wire. this will serve as your ground.

Next, get wire splices like this the following picture and connect your positive (blue in my picture) and negative (silver in my picture) wires like so:

    DSC02091_73848962b0acd68ba6a8037dc30819a92f3aee95.jpg
    DSC02092_c574da254de7ebc004a5d6b13c6807dc68c10fe9.jpg

To make sure this has spliced correctly, test your buzzer attached like this:
    DSC02095_d1d2e027ae858d335865927b7587f9e5e4b90dd6.jpg
and hit the lock button. You should hear a loud beep.

undo that connect and run your new wire through the fire wall through the big grommet like this:

    DSC02093_b27dc7843584dcec6b9976abcdbc8e2e5693109d.jpg

    YOU'RE ALMOST DONE!!!

run the wire along the side of the battery and under neath the lip towards the radiator. Time to get the double sided tape (3m foam tape). Apply it to the back of the piezo buzzer and mount it like so:

DSC02097_375d88b22403599a987b711add699bea599ddbd1.jpg(note: i took this picture after I had wired it up)

Tape the loose hanging wire with the black wire in the picture so nothing is hanging around (be sure not to cut your wire too short....leave some extra. I'll explain why in a minute.)

Now heres where I've got to do some explaining. After reading the FSM and playing with my multimeter, I learned that the locks will "lock" when a current is sent through them in a positive polarity (From A to B). Lucky for us, they "unlock" in a really easy manner. rather than controlled by the ecu by code, the ecu just sends a current through the circuit in a reverse manner (from B to A, or just backwards). So here is where you can use just 1 piezo buzzer or 2.

If you want the buzzer to beep when you LOCK THE DOORS, attach the buzzer to the wire you ran like so:

    DSC02095_d1d2e027ae858d335865927b7587f9e5e4b90dd6.jpg

Keep in mind the blue wire is positive as well as the red wire. When you use your keys to lock your truck, you will hear a beep.

If you want it to beep when you unlock it, wire it like this:

    DSC02096_2df738ce94fd3cd11499cda404e42cbf2d6069e9.jpg

see how the red postive wire on the buzzer is wired to the silver wire, which is what I considered my negative? This will make the buzzer beep when you hit the unlock button on your remote once.

Now if i have taken in anything from my circuits class, If you want it to beep when you hit the lock button and the unlock button. All you have to do is wire the postive (red) wire from one buzzer and the negative (black wire) of another buzzer to the silver wire (what i considered the ground/negative) and the black wire from the first buzzer and the red wire from the second buzzer to the blue wire (what i considered my positive). If this doesn't work (i'll try and test it tomorrow and let you know) the worst thing that could happen is you'll pop a 20A fuse in the fuse box inside the truck (learned the hard way today).

Now i know i said i did it this way cause i have those other mods done, but honestly, why try and wire this to the 4way flashers and have to use a switch so it doesn't beep when you need the flashers on in an emeregency. The only downside to my mod is that it will beep when you lock or unlock the car from the inside.

I'd post a video showing it working, but i don't know how to and you can take my word for it.

EDIT: I got the other buzzer and tested it in parallel like i said above and it works flawlessly.

    One beep for lock
    One beep for unlock
two beeps for all doors unlocked.

If I could I'd rip the one off my 09 and give it to someone. I fuckin hate that thing, it's annoying as hell. I don't even use the keyless entry anymore because of it, I just unlock it manually with my key.
Maybe yours won't be so bad cause it only beeps twice, mine beeps 4 times, and it's ridiculously loud.

Yeah it will beep. Better than hooking it up to a blinker though if you ask me. For the most part the only time I lock and unlock the car is when I am not inside it.

Only when you pull up to the lady's house will it beep.. now if you're pulling up to another lady's house it'll wolf-whistle. It’s true. It really happens that way. I don’t lie. Everything you read on the internet is true.

that could be a problem pt. I read over the fsm multiple times about current locations when it's locked and ublocked. I really wanted to hook it up to where the wireless sensor was bit it only had a constant 12vdc source.
