Truck bed storage solutions

I'm sure this topic has been beat to death in various other forms. I've been doing a lot of searching and havent come across what I would call an ideal solution to having "trunk like" storage in the truck bed. The truck is my DD and I'd love to not have to fold the rear seats or put everything in the floor area. This is even harder if I have passengers. Just wondering what you guys are doing about carrying small stuff like groceries and misc other shopping when you take the truck places. I've looked at the tool boxes and I'm not a big fan. I dont like the raised look not to mention I eventually want to get a hard tonneau cover and the 2 dont go well together.

So long story short, what do you guys use to make the bed of the truck more useful for day to day stuff?

 

I have an OEM Bed Divider and use it for day-to-day stuff all the time (groceries, moving small items).

 

Get an in bed toolbox that sits below the bedsides, then you can still get a cover. Or just strap down a plastic tote.

Thats actually not a bad idea. I will look into this.

Does that cover lock? waht kind is it? I've been considering the undercover bed cover that locks and with it prevents entry from the tailgate too.

 

Extang Trifecta. Doesn't really lock, but unhooks from the inside, which is locked.

 

I installed a BakFlip tonneau cover and a Dynalock tailgate lock. These work great in making the truck bed a large locking trunk plus the tonneau cover folds up flat against the back window when I need the truck bed for Mtn Bikes or other big or tall items. I Just bought a SpacePac bed divider that fits under the tonneau cover to keep small stuff close to the tailgate.

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0010BWQO6/ref=oh_details_o02_s00_i00 It works great and fits under the tonneau cover. Plus I use a rubermade storage bin to hold a small tool box, ratchet straps, bungie cords, rags, a 12V drop light and jumper cables.

 

I've got a storage bin set up in the back of my truck. They have different sizes to pick from. Lowes link

I drilled a hole on both the left and right side about 2" from the bottom.
I then cut a bungee cord in half.
Pull cut side through hole and tied into knot. Same thing to other side. Cut off extra.
Hook to D-rings closest to gate.

It's easy to remove when not needed.

I did it and it has been great because I use the bakflip bed cover. I can easily load things in my truck and they don't slide all over the place.

 

Actually, groceries and similar usually go in the back seat or floorboards. For slightly larger items (or if passengers are taking up the back seat), I have the bed extender, which, when folded into the bed, provides a fairly good size area to contain items. For much larger items, I have two utility trailers - one open and one enclosed.
