    My 2011 Toyota Tacoma was hit by a drunk driver after I had it for only three months!! After the accident the truck was rebuilt and runs well. I noticed that the truck does not beep with that signature Toyota beep when the you press the lock button on the remote key. The amber lights flash but that is it. I brought it to the dealer but they said that it was not even an option on my truck. I swear that it used to beep prior to the accident. I am not sure if I was wrong or the dealer is wrong?? Anyone with an 2011 or with knowledge of the 2011 model know if it is suppose to beep or if it is an option or not on the vehicle. It is driving me nuts!!

    Thanks!!

    Yes it is supposed to beep. I'd consider it a blessing it doesn't. There is a small module behind the headlight that makes the beep. Its pretty small.

    Not all Tacomas make a sound when you lock/unlock the truck, depends on the options that came with the truck....im just puzzled you dont remembered if it beeps or not....:confused:

    I believe it beeps and honks if you have an alarm. It will only beep if you are disarming the alarm. I could be wrong though...

    My 2005 Tacoma didn't beep, my 2012 Tacoma does, FWIW.

    2005 = DCSB 4x4 SR5
    2012 = DCSB 4x4 TRD Sport

    Neither have security alarm.

    My truck was in the body shop for about 75 days. I was driving a rental all that time and just forgot if it made the beep. Thanks for the input though!

    if the "toyota keyless beep" stops then the thing is likely burnt out.

    in your crash, it probably got totalled... and the rebuilders failed to put in a new one.

    you can also disable it as well... then again, isn't it the same noise as your driver door being open with key in?

    What does it hook into? Got any pictures?

    I think I've researched this in the past but (I'm old) can't remember or just didn't have time.....curious to know if my 07 has the wiring available to buy one of these modules and hook it up.

    Yeah, I've seen the mods you can do to get it to beep... I'd rather have something close to factory ...;)

    Seems to depend on the year. I don't know anyone with an 11. My 06 does not beep. I just watch the flashing parking lights to make sure it's locked. I am proud to not be contributing to needless noise pollution.

    The 2005 I had did not beep at all when locking or unlocking with key fob. It was a 2005 DCSB TRD Offroad 6 speed.

    You should just walk , then you could be proud to not be contributing to air pollution either
