Can too much oil cause a leak in the front main seal?

Recently my 06 with 62K miles developed a small oil leak from the front of the engine. Looks like the front main seal. I checked the oil level this morning and it is way above the max fill level on the dipstick. I had the oil changed by a local lube shop at 60K and they obviously overfilled it. I'm wondering if I have any chance on getting the lube shop to resolve this. Wouldn't too much oil cause a blown oil seal? How would you guys suggest approaching this?

I really doubt overfilling would do anything to the main seal. Other places would fail before this.

Just be glad they put the oil drain plug back in. Had a friend they did not do that for him.

Yes it can cause a leak but chances are it is not the primary source of yours. Filling up fluids is not taken as seriously as it should be these days. I blame cell phones.

I'll get under there and check the timing cover tomorrow. Hope it's not the main seal.
This is just another reason to do my own oil changes from now on.

If you have to re-seal the timing cover you go deeper than the front crank seal, and end up replacing it too.

It wouldn't hurt to drain the oil to the correct level, clean things up, and see what happens as far as leaks go.

Damn, that won't be a cheap repair.
I changed the oil (myself this time) and cleaned everything up yesterday. So far have not seen any leaking. I'll keep checking and hoping for the best.
