I installed an afe stage II CAI on my TRD Supercharged 2012 X-Runner. Runs great. Love the sound. AFR is right on target.

    QUESTION FOR THE 1ST GENNERS!

Ive been getting a squeak in my front drivers wheel. Sounds kinda like a rotor making a shwing shwing shwing sound at 40 miles and under.

So i check my rotors and bearings and they seem fine. Rotors and wearing out. Front drivers still squeaks at low speeds. My LBJ just started to leak grease, wonder if that has to do with the squeek? Does the LBJ affect alignment with the rotors? What i mean is, if your LBJ is getting soft, does it make anything rub in the steering and brake components?

Bit late on the responses, but oh well.

    Thanks!
Basically clearance of no u bolts/plates under the axle, and prevents the threads/ends of the ubolts from possibly being damaged.
Thanks jerry! Working on it brought on the memories of the mod day when we did the rear of your truck
    This.
Well, need parts Monte? or going a different direction with your rig?
    Thanks man, I appreciate it.
I used 1/4". Figured it would work fine with the bends there to add strength to the plate, though if I had 3/8 laying around I would have used it just because I could have. haha
The ends bend up for 2 main reasons.... 1) it adds a lot of rigidity to the plate, allows use of thinner steel while keeping strength in the plate. and 2) the curve of the bend is a smooth transition for the leafs, from my understanding a square/sharp edge can fatigue the springs over time when they torque and flex.

Do you mean a tighter bend, like closer to 90*?
It could be done that way, however I didnt see it necessary to bend that far and I preferred the look of the smaller bend on the ends

And now the salesman comes out in me...
Anyone interested in doing the Ubolt flip and shock relocation and want the parts, PM and I'll shoot you a price.
The U bolts were just some 9/16" bolts from Summit racing, I believe they were intended for a bronco actually, but worked perfect. :D I can provide a part number if anyone wants it.

The LBJ shouldnt have any effect from what I can see.
Did you check the brake pads? Mine were down to about 1/8" of material on one and it was sounding the wear indicators at lower speeds like you mention.

    Hell ya man!

I'd be interested in the flip kit if the price is right. Jerry is working on a shock relocation kit for me I think. I want to do my shocks like his.

Cool. Alright I'll figure a price for the plates and let you know.
I think the bolts were like $30 or $40 at summit, cant remember off the top of my head right now. You could source them other places too.

I'll be going a little crazy with my rear suspension when I get the chance... I'll just say I have yet to see pics of a tacoma with something like it. :D :spy:

Should be cool to see then :spy:

I think that what you and Jerry did will suit me well with some nicer shocks

If you tap the breaks does it go away? I started noticing it, if i give it a tap it will stop for a while, making me believe its in the pad/rotor. Havent had time to resolve it yet.

Now that i think of it, yes it does. The pads looked like they had material left, so it could be the rotors.

Anyone know the wear thickness of a rotor?

Sounds like you just need new pads Ian. If the rotors have a lip on the edge either get new ones(slotted or drilled or both) or just get them turned
