    Hello,

I just purchased a 2012 tacoma SR5 4x4 access cab. I am new to the forums and am so far very pleased with the amount of information i have been able to find.

I am looking at getting a tonneau cover, but i need a aftermarket tailgate lock to make sure my tools stay secure in the bed, it must also work with the back-up camera. I have been looking at either the manual pop and lock PL5300 or the power pop and lock PL8521.

Does anybody have any experience with these, and there durability? How do you get them open if the mechanism malfuctions?

I am leaning towards the power tailgate lock, but have concerns about it failing and not being able to get my tools out when i need them for work.

Thanks and any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have the PL5300 and I love it so far. It was pretty easy to install and is pretty durable if you don't try to yank your tailgate off when you open it. Lol The camera goes on the left instead of the right which does throw your angle off a little but you get use to it and the PL 5300 comes with ties to extend the camera wires.
