just bid and won this new set of smoked aftermarket headlights(85.99$ shipped). finally get to do my retro. not sure what brand they are. looks like the OEM smoked headlights that the Sports/OffRoad has. to those who've purchase from eBay, how's yours one holding up? anything to say about em? anything to worry about?

From what ive heard they have a tendency to leak. A lot of people run a bead of GE Silicone II around the outer edges of the head lights to prevent that from happenind

since you're planning on doing a retrofit, as long as you seal them up good, like you would have done with any other oem pair, then you'll probably be fine

just from experience with 3 different sets... the only problem with the ones off ebay and Amazon was poor sealing, but nothing like mentioned before wouldnt solve, silicone bead or just get the same stuff they offer off of theretrofitsource.com for resealing the headlights after a retrofit

Edit: this is the stuff i used in the link for my retrofit

river rat 69- I haven't gotten the lights yet. There on transit as of right now. I want to go OEM but it's just hard to find a pair.

brny67- seller is 210josev, from Laredo, Texas

wolfpack_5150- sounds good. would this be the same product from Lowe's. http://www.lowes.com/pd_66792-81-71548_0__?Ntt=butyl&productId=1096101&rpp=16

tried looking for butyl on O'reilly website, but nothing.

as far as the integrity of the lights... i hear that the DEPO brands are really good.. durable...and ive experienced them as well.. but like many have said, since you are retrofitting it, make sure you seal it up good. and add a bead of silicone.

I see several pairs of OEM headlights for sale here in jacksonville, fl...FYI...maybe you could convince them to ship em

on another note...does anyone know someone who will retro fit some headlights for $$
that has actually experience doing it?

I look at the ebay lights all the time but I have bought a pair for my honda accord before and had nothing but problems. Rather have someone ELSE do it right ....just wondering
    thanks!

I asked the seller and he said they were JDM. After reading his response I did not bid due to all of the problems people have with aftermarket lights. Since you're already planning on opening them up for the retro you should be good as long as you seal them well.

    +1

Your retrofit will take care of the two typical issues...

    1 - Sealing
    2 - The beam pattern

The only other issue would be durability of the clear... but Toyota sucks anyways, I can't imagine aftermarket being any worse.
