Lifting a 5-Lugger

Hi, guys, I wanted to ask some questions about my truck, and sorry if this is the wrong place, im somewhat new to forums. I just got a 2009 Tacoma Access Cab in Silver Streak Mica(or whatever its called). I got a 4 cyl, and it came with the 15-inch wheels which look extremely weird on my extended cab because it makes the truck sit low. I like how the V6's look with the higher up cab and the 16 inch tires. WITHOUT putting a lift kit on and not having huge tires how can i lift the truck up to around that height. If i get 16-18" size wheels will it lift it up to that height? Im a little confused on what i should do. Also, the truck is plenty powerful for me since im not doing off-roading but, i like to "feel" power through the pedal when i drive, like in my BMW. What can i add to make it feel like that? I dont want it to sound extremely loud though. Thanks everyone!

This is all I can think of to do it without a lift or big tires.

 

Do you plan on doing some offroading w/ your taco?
There are two common lifts that I have read that most 5 luggers use are the following methods:

1) you can use a spacer in the front.
2) you can buy a lift kit design for our 5 luggers- lift kit is made by Readylift

After ready many threads and seeing multiple pictures. There are some issues with spacers.

Or you can just get bigger tires to give you a lift. The biggest tire you can put it on stock 5 lugger is a 30*9.5R15.

 

LOL, i know the suspension doesnt have to do with the engine, those were kind of 2 seperate questions. If i got thicker tires and 18" rims would it sit higher?/

 

You would have rubbing issues with 18" rims and --" tires

 

I may be wrong here, if I am someone correct me, but I think with the 5 lug you pretty much are stuck with stock unless you do some sort of lift. The truck sits too low on the tire to go any bigger.

 

Youre right. You can't go with an actual lift(like Toytec, Procomp, etc) you can only do spacers and wheel spacers

Spacers w/ a block or AAL(for the back). Spacers for the front

Bigger tires will help. You can probably find some bigger 5-lug steelies

 

I think the Readylift for the 5 lug is pretty much your only option here. Or slam it to the floor and go lowrider with it.

I had the same problem with 30 x 9.5 x 15 's until I took the metal boxes out of the rear of the wheel wells.

 

I don't seem to have issues in the rear, just the front rubbing on this f-cking thing:

 

I don't really want to lift my truck with a lift kit. I just want it to be higher like the V6 is. Im really a noob with this stuff so could you guys explain it a little more simply? what are spacers lol

 

OH Ok, i think i see now. Since my truck is so low to the ground any bigger tires would require a lift kit, since they would rub around. Makes sense. I really didn't want to lift it but I guess i will. Anyone know if a lift kit voids your warranty??

 

A lift should not void any part of the warranty unless the broken part/issue to be fixed can directly be linked to the modification that you did.

ill get a lift eventually bcause it IS riding on the ground though!
