I found and have purchased a set of mirrors that work well with my 2008 Tacoma. Here is the link and if needed, I can email jpg images of the mirrors as they look when installed on my truck.

I bought the mirrors with an additional large convex (add on) mirrors and one extra set of foam pads. With S&H, the total was $ 186.95. But, I can see down the side of my travel trailer.....

    Regards,

    Jeff

All points of contact with truck are padded with soft foam rubber. I bought an extra set of pads for $ 4.50 just in case I lose some padding.

I don't want to sound like a salesman, but these are a good quality item. I can only see photos of the mirrors that are referenced in the towing bible, but they look plastic and cheap.

I am tickled pink with these and what I got for $186.95....

McKesh are excellent mirrors and they do not scratch the paint (haven't on mine in 4 seasons of towing). Just remember to clean the area under the pads and straps before you go on a trip and be sure to tighten the straps enough to prevent wind flutter. I've found as well that when you get to your destination take them off as it will deform the window seals. Mine always reform back into their origional shape though as long as I take the mirrors off and don't leave them on for a prolonged period of time.

Do they vibrate at all when you drive?

Not mine. The convex mirror addons are a must and really make it easy to see.

I can't answer that as if yet. I recieved them, tried them for fit but have not been in motion yet....

The other guy seems to indicate they didn't flutter (shake)

I am not saying this isn't the way for some of you to go. But wouldn't you rather have mirrors that stay on the vehicle and just fold to tow and then fold back to drive around town? No muss no fuss. No distortion of seals and no chance of scratching the doors.

Your are right, but I could not find a decent replacement mirror. I intend to pull this trailer to and from each of my work assignments (most lasting 9 months to a year) so I plan to deploy them maybe one a year for the move.

Yes definitely but they don't exist for the Tacoma or even the pre 07 Tundra. I've seen some mods for non Toyota mirrors and such but no luck. If you follow my previous advice you'll have no problems with them. I'm on my 4th season with them now and no issues.

Correct.. if properly adjusted they do not shake on my truck. In California you have to be able to see 200 feet behind the rear of the trailer. Since the Tacoma is narrower than a full size truck these mirrors are great and provide even more visiblity than the law requires.. especially with the convex mirrors. I can pull with no passengers and still feel confident that I can change lanes without blindsiding someone.

I have seen recommendations for the McKesh mirrors on other sites. I use a pair of strap on mirrors on the regular Tacoma mirrors, but I have to say I'm never really satisfied with my side or rear vision. Good post, thank you for it, it may push me over the edge on this.
