What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition

You were fortunate to catch it when you did. It dould have been very ugly. Your truck might still be there.

 

ya it woulda been bad as there was NO room on the trail at all. Just wait till you hear how we fixed it

That what we ended up doing

After totally redoing my truck I knew the seat bolts and seat belts were 14mm just like the ones we needed. But they ended up being to short..so then Jon check the carrier bearing bolts...boom they fit...sorta. Then we used two bolts from the passenger seat to hold up the carrier bearing.

Jacked the wheel up with a hi lift amd took of the tire. Set a jack stand under the ballpoint amd lowered it amd it flattened it out perfect so we could get the bolts in nice a straight.

Jon just checked the torque as we went along the trail and they held fine Hahahahah


Epic win

 

I now check all 8 bolts after every wheeling trip. I also carry an extra set in my OSK.

 

I'm sure Jon will now too haha as well as me..

 

These are going on in a week or so......

 

Yeah, I got the one that came with the gun for like 120 on Amazon. Than spent an additional 20 or so on primer and sandpaper.

Ya wiring blows! It took me a couple days doing a little at a time. I just kind of did it in stages. I pulled my main run and then marked it with a marker where I'd "t" off for a light. Then I pulled it out and went in side to do the long boring cut, strip, crimp lol

 

I'm still confused as to how you wire up that many lights. Did you connect the wires end to end and string them along the truck or have 1 power cable and splice all the lights into that? I may be electrically retarded I would think if you have a main power wire and splice the lights off that, you'd get the brightest lights compared to if you strung them along one after another.

 

I used the Tacoma to jump start the Ford.

Yup thats what I did.

I also ran a ground at the same time. I just used some spare 18/2 that I had. It actually worked out that I attached my ground at the same point the battery connects to the fender. I did my ground this way because I didn't want to ground each light to the frame or body. I figured less holes in my body or frame would be better and since its grounded where the battery is I should be ok.

Then ran the 18/2 down and around along the frame on the drivers side for one run.

Then I spliced that main pull over to the passenger side and ran the length of the frame again.

Its definitely time consuming and a major pain, but in the end its way worth it in my opinion.

It took me a while to grasp what I was gonna do in my head and lay it all out. Once I started stringing the wire and marking where I wanted a light it all started coming together and made sense.
