I just got my 2012 Tacoma TRD 4x4 and I was wanting to put a 3 in lift, so I could fit 33 in toyo open country MT with 18 in XD rims and not have any scrub and still have it riding smooth. Can anyone give me any suggestions? also around how much gas am I going to be losing by lifting it?

    Yes
I too have been looking around for a 3" lift for a 2012 4x4 TRD OR. I have narrowed it down to a choice few selections:

    Fabtech 3" lift kit http://www.fabtechmotorsports.com/products/cart.php?m=product_detail&p=777&display=TOYOTA 4WD
    - Ask around on TW and you will hear nothing but praises for Fabtech. Yes, they are a bit on the pricy side, but you get what you pay for in the long run.

    Ready lift 2.75" - 3" front / 2" rear http://www.readylift.com/c-104-toyo...st-lift-kit-2005-2012-2wd-4wd-275-30f10r.aspx
    - This one seems to be just a block kit, and not a true suspension lift. I personally dont want to block my truck but its up to you. You might have to purchase additional equipment to accomplish this lift.

    Tuff country 2", 3", & 6" lift kits http://www.tuffcountry.com/suspension-kit/toyota-tacoma-2005-06-lift-kits.html
    - To me, these look like they are a bit better quality than the readylift kits, the 3" is an add-a-leaf design with spacers for the front coils.

Fabtech would be my first choice, then the Tuff Country, and finally the Ready Lift. Hopefully others will either confirm or deny my observations, as I have only been searching for about two weeks. I perfer to do things right the first time then spend additional $$ to fix my mistakes. Best of luck friend.

*I saw that Fabtech 6" lift and the back of my mind wants this, but my wallet doesnt.

trd seat covers, bed mat, tinted windows, debadged, mud flaps removed, tinted tails, blacked out center console, Black Rims, 6000k HID in highs and fogs, blacked out front emblem, Pioneer AVH-4300DVD, Gauge Cluster, lower valence, retrofitted, audio system, Maxtrac Spindles, Billies
You could spend as little as 300 or go up to over a grand. All depends on what you want. Also you won't lose any gas but more your mpg's. Sorry I had to. Also welcome to the site

I would look around on the forums there are many informative posts to help you decide. Remember putting 33 inch tires on your tacoma is probably going to need to be re geared i dont know what size engine you have but i know on the 2.7L 4 banger you are definatly going to need to put 4.56 gears for those tires or you are going to be like a prius driver on the free way. You will lose mpg for sure with the bigger tires and maybe changed gears but it would be hard to say how much depends on how you drive i only lost 2 mpg going to bigger tires and gears. You have to figure out what kind of budget you are on for the complete lift are we talking $500 or maybe $2000 cause you can go with spacers or coilovers and it is a big price difference. I would look at Allprooffroad, toytec and fabtech

remember the lift you want to get is dependent upon your goals for the lift. some people recommend 2000 dollar lifts, but their goal might be to go off-roading. if all youre wanting to do is cruise the mall, a top plate spacer lift with AAL could achieve your goal at a fraction of the cost.

with that said. my goal is to do very little off-roading, yet avoid any issues with cv joints, ball joints, etc. while maintaining a great ride quality for everyday driving (which can be difficult to achieve with spacer lifts and AAL)... if this is what youre looking for, go to my thread here which has helped me make my decision: http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/suspension/234886-screw-forum-lift-kits.html

Thanks for all the advice guys. I am either gonna go with the fabtech, pro comp, or the ready lift. I really like the ready lift. My stepdad has one on his tundra and with they way it is set up his truck still rides just as smooth as it did from the factory. It also lifted it up a pretty good bit and is really cheap.

Stay away from spacer lifts if you can.

Check out the OME products made by ARB you can easily get 2.5" out of them for a full three you just need to add a spacer.

X2 I love my OME 3" lift with Dakars. Ride is firm but not bad. Mine handles like a truck now and not a prius.:cool:

I am in the same boat. I have done a lot of research on and off this site and am about two mouse clicks from ordering the ReadyLIFT 69-5056 SST Hybrid kit and the Light Racing UCA's. My Toyota dealer is doing the install. This site is so big that it is hard to get a solid yes or no on all your questions. Right or wrong I am making my choice based on my gut feel from the feedback I received and the way I plan to drive.

Your truck man, do what you want. don't get a lift based off what people say on here, you may end up wishing you got something else then. I went with adjustable bilstein 51's, toytec coils, and 2in AAL to start with. Eventually when I get more money put up I'll start upgrading to a new leaf pack, new shocks w/resi's, and maybe some 4in spindles. However, I personally can't tell you how the ride is since I haven't installed it yet, waiting on tires so I can do it all at once.

Yea... Stay away from all of these.

Be sure to add uca's if your going 3". OME and 5100's is a good place to start. Coilovers are your best option but also the most expensive.
