Hey I was thinking about one of these but would it support a couple Kayaks on the top of it? They don't look like they'd take weight very well.

I don't think they'd take the weight well at all, especially since the softtopper website says "No" (http://www.softopper.com/faq.aspx).

I prefer my softtopper over a hardcap because I can:
    * collapse it down and/or take it off very easy if I don't need it.
    * Provide almost 100% water-tight to my cargo during rain
    * Deploy it just with the top up to give shade to whatever is in the back of my truck.

The "security" difference between hardshells and softtoppers is really miniscule. I've seen other's hardshells get broken into plenty of times (by breaking glass or manipulating the latches). If you're worried about something being stolen, don't store it in the back of your truck.

I've met him a few times but don't have his number, I'll drop a NOTE in the tidewater thread and try for a number. Haven't seen him on here in a good minute.

Nope I was just looking for a soft shade personal cover if I'm tailgate fishing/camping. I like how it looks safari like. My only concern was transporting kayaks because I don't like the idea of laying it on top of the tail gate and in line with the back window, but also don't like not being able to have to tail gate up and having loose camping gear in the bed. Looks like I need to make a custom app.

Anyone know of a good alignment shop in Southern MD area? I am about to install some LR UCAs, and I know that the local stealership wont adjust them if they need more wiggle room to get the alignment right, and I hear of some people finding good places that know how to adjust LR UCAs, but havent heard of one locally.

Yeah you can easily use the softtopper as a shaded cover when camping. If I'm base-camping in my truck that's what I do, with the sides and back rolled up.

Why not just install the OEM roof-rack from toyota to attach your kayak's to? FWIW, Softtopper does also make a rack for the bed of the truck. You could look into that. Give them a call...they are more than willing to help you figure out your situation.
