Rear springs approved, blower motor denied

Went to the dealer the other day to get the harsh ride tsb and the blower motor tsb done before my 3/36 is up, one month left. They approved the new springs and denied the blower motor. I had to leave it and when they checked the blower motor they said it made no noise. I printed out the tsb for them which states that it happens only on low and says "at low ambient temperatures", it was 80 degrees. It sounds like a bird is in the glove compartment in the winter, but still clicks on low in the summer. They probably checked it on medium or high. I just find it hard to belive that they would approve a $2000 tsb and deny a $200 tsb. When they do the springs I will have them check it again with me there. They did the recall on the gas pedal and reflashed the computer and the truck drives so much better, no more searching for gears at low speeds. I really enjoy driving the truck now. Anyone else see a difference after the gas pedal recall?

 

just a chopped off gas pedal that looked like the tech cut it with a worn out hacksaw blade.

btw...I have a full size OEM pedal in perfect condition if anyone wants to buy it. I bought it to replace mine but traded for a new Tacoma.

 

Just take 20 mins and follow this bit of advice. I am still nice and quiet. I would tell them the steering feels loose and it clunks, get the Mid shaft TSB done as well.

Exact same thing with me. 2 grand on 4 leafpack but denied a blower motor. I dont get it. 2011 so i have time with only 12000 miles. Im going to keep buggin. Even printed the tsb and brought it to them.

 

when I had my 2010

I had the TSB springs done at the purchising dealer...had to go through Toyota after the 1st balk.

I had the blower motor replaced at another closer dealer...I also made sure they used the replacement latest blower model. #

Larry, since you have a 2012 you must already have the new program for the transmission. My 2010 always had a hesitation at low gears and would rev high and then slam into gear if you were not used to it. There was a tsb for this also but the pedal recall reflashes the ecu which fixes the transmission problem on the older second generations.

 

Man that sucks. I had the blower motor replaced so I guess I'm out of luck for the rear leaf?

 

my 2010 was flashed and pedal cut prior to my delivery in July 2010

 

i have'nt heard of this pedal cut does this include 07's

 

Thanks Leggo. I wish I could make mine as nice as yours but for now it will have to stay the way it is. I would try to get the shaft TSB done, but it does not seem to have any problems, steering feels fine. Since I don't really do any off road maybe I just don't notice it. But these New Jersey roads suck, almost like off road.

 

Please report back with your impressions on the ride difference with the TSB rear leafs. I am considering having it done also as my 3/36 is up in November. I got the platinum Toyota Care coverage also but figure they will put up more of a fight on it. I do occasionally carry heavy loads in the back so i was debating having the leafs done or just getting airbags. Had a few friends sitting in the bed a few nights ago and was amazed how much it sagged in the back with just 3 of us. I was going to take a picture of the rear with the bed loaded up with maybe 4-500lbs to help my case.

Bought my Taco in early August, had the windows tinted so it was a/c only for like 3 days.. damn squeak was driving me nuts. Brought it in and they replaced it under warranty. Was kind of annoyed it took them an hour and a half to determine it was the blower.. but saved me a hundred bucks or so on buying the motor myself.

 

pull the silly motor off, put in some multi puprose oil, reinstall. click/noise gone.

same thing happened to my scion - going 3+ years with AZ heat and no issues or clicking.

Truck did the EXACT thing.. got the silly thing replaced, however when it beings to click (and i know it will) i'll oil it.

Aftermarket can be had for ~50 if you decide to replace, screw dealer prices. very easy to get to/remove/reinstall.

 

Argg.. pain in the butt. Dealer denied the TSB rear springs. Brought it in this morning and waited 3.5hrs for them to tell me the rear suspension is fine. I specifically stated it was bad over bumps when loaded (it really is!). Even brought in the first 3 pages of the TSB summary.

Tech said nothing was wrong with it and the service manager said the TSB doesnt apply. I was too annoyed to even fight when them after waiting that long for them to put it on a lift and look at it.

Going to take pictures of the bed loaded with 4-500lbs and show them how much the rear end sags and how close the bump stops are to the frame. If its still an issue ill contact Toyota directly.

 

i had both of them done at my second oil change...no problem at all..i think it all depends on the dealership. why would they care?? they get paid anyway

I'm very surprised they gave you crap about the blower motor. Mine had just barely started chirping when I went in for an oil change. They asked me if there was anything else I wanted looked at and I said the fan issue had intermittently started happening. Service guy just told the tech to replace it and that was that. I doubt they even turned it on to check it first.

 

Did you try several times with one dealer or once with different dealers?

 

Ill definately get it done, just its a bit of a hassle for me due to my work schedule. My 3/36 is up in November and i work offshore.. usually i am down in the gulf of mex for 3-4 weeks at a time. I only have enough week and a half off and wanted to get it done before i leave.. wont be home until late October again. It really just annoyed me i had to wait 3.5hrs for the tech to put he car on the lift, look at the leaf spring and say nothing is wrong with it. I sort of wish i had the dealer i bought it from in August do it before i bought the truck.. or atleast made it one of the terms of the closing, would have been alot easier. Wish i could go back there but they are about 3hrs away!

I am going to try another dealer a few towns over on friday, backed up with some pictures of the rear loaded up with 4-500lbs.

Same dealer on the 2009 Tacoma and it was where I bought the truck too ... but it took several times going there (same dealer aka World Toyota) ... talking to different service writers.

Had another "rear spring TSB" done on a 2010 Tacoma with a different dealer (where I bought the truck aka Atlanta Toyota) and they did it on first request.

It boils down to who you talk to and which dealer you go to ... and how persistent you are.

Now ... I am waiting to get the "rear spring TSB" done on a 2012 Tacoma (bought at Atlanta Toyota) ... but I don't think that TSB is out yet on the 2012s
