So i have been negotiating with a dealer here in town on a DCSB TRD Off Road 4X4. It does not have Entune, which is the only feature I think it doesnt come with.

They are offering to give it to me at $32,375 and are going to give me $19,750 for my current 2007. Initially they were only going to give me $15,500 and i told them no. They "worked" their numbers and came up with 19,750.

My 2007 is an AC TRD Off Road 4x4 with 69,300 miles and is great condition. It does need new tires (which i was going to put on eventually until i started talking to the dealer) and it needs new leaf springs (but what 07 doesnt).

I think thats fair price for my truck, but what about their offer on the new one? Granted, in Wichita, they dont come around too often with the TRD OR package and I think they are even having to get it from another dealer.

Any tips to try to get them down even more? I know the 2013's are about to come out, but we are getting ready to have a child and don't want the hassle of an AC and an infant seat.

    Thanks everyone.

I just got the same truck in a '13 for a grand cheaper. No trade in though.
My dealer had to get it from another dealer too. My dealer had a DCSB 4x4 Sport on their lot that I could've gotten for $400 cheaper than the OR, but I wanted the OR.
Sounds like they should be doing better on a '12.

Just purchased a 2012 DCSB TRD Off Road 4x4 in New Jersey everything but Entune for $30.800 I had no trade in and the MSRP was $ 33.036. Your price sounds high

I hear you guys, get rid of it while the offer is good, but the other half doesnt like the new payment lol. I know its a great deal for my truck, but trying to convince a wife who knows nothing about buying a vehicle is another story. She supports my efforts but she wants a new tacoma for a $300 payment which isnt possible unless you pay half up front.

$19,750 for a soon to be 6 year old truck. Bbye! Buy a cheaper truck to keep the payment reasonable; put the toys on afterwards; or not.

Costco membership got me my '12 DCLB TRD Sport 4wd with entune for $1000 under invoice...not msrp. I paid $31,666 + ttl. And after I got reimbursed for the prepaid maintenance, gap protection, and extended warranty, I got $28,100 for my traded 2010 tundra crewmax TRD OR, they sold it for $28,900. It's worth it to pay $55 for a Costco membership and go through them. They will put you in touch with the dealership in your area who does the Costco deals.

Unfortunately, we dont have a Costco in our area. Closest one would be in Kansas City. I have read about their memberships and car buying perks, and thats a heck of a deal you got on your truck. I guess I might just have to get an Equator with their 0% and $2k rebates right now (jk).

Once you drive a Tacoma (and join this site) no other mid size truck compares.

First of all, sounds like they tried to pull one over on you if they started at $15k for the trade and ended up offering $19k. They know they can sell that thing. No way they would've been able to come up $4k just like that. That never happens and I'd call them on it.

Give them a monthly that you're comfortable with and tell them to get there. Turn the tables and point out that they tried to STEAL $4k from and I would make that abundantly clear. Fuck em!

I only paid 30k for my 2012 DCLB sport from Eddy's. 19 for your truck sounds like a pretty good deal.

    huh?

dealers always start low on a trade-in vehicle. and unless you are driving an old beater...there is almost always room north. I'll admit 4K is strong though.

and: Give them a monthly that you're comfortable with ???

this ^^^ is the worse advice ever!

work your deal with real values...not payment.

Is yours 4x4? That seems likes a good deal if the actual price was 30k before trade and down payment.

Ya it is 4x4, I just told them that I wasn't going to pay a cent over 30 for the truck, had to argue and battle back and forth a bit, but I carry a gun...I won.
