I recently bought my first Tacoma. It's a 2010 4.0 V6 4x4. It had 53,000 miles on it when I bought it from a Ford Dealership. I was just wondering if any of your Tacoma has a loud engine, like you can hear the lifters in the engine. I'm not to worried. Just wondering??? Plus I have a clicking sound in the front end, but only when I put it in drive and take off. Not in stop and go traffic

Lube the driveshaft U-joints. Change the diff oils and transfer case to synthetic gear lube ASAP.

all these 4.0's are noisey to me...the other noise may be the brake pad shift(or click)

Ok I will do that. It also has the maintenance required light blinks about five times when I start the truck and then it goes off. I thought it might of been because I neglected to change the oil after 4,000 miles

Maint Light blinking means it is almost due for oil change, light will stay on when change is due.

You don't have to switch your lubricants out now, it is not going to fall apart, I would recommend just to start treating her right.

    The tick is perfectly normal.

Oh, and yes, they are very noisy; noise reduction was not an area Toyota focused on.

Learn the sounds and roars of the truck and then when you hear something abnormally loud, start another thread, but your fine for now.;)

I find mine quiet. I'm a technician, so I'm hearing lots of crappy engines during the day.

    Definitely do this.

Don't get me wrong, you can change your other fluids too, just that is not the cause for your noise and are not going to make it go away.

Seriously. Do your oil ON TIME. Like within 50 miles of your interval. I was contemplating changing mine one morning...figured ....nahhhhh I'll do it tonight. 30 seconds later: tick tick tick. Complete coincidence I know. But a good lesson.

I'm glad I found this site. I want to thank everyone. I'm a Union member in Chicago and you should hear the shit I had to go through with when I bought a Toyota. I told them when they start paying for my truck they can tell me what to buy. I bought this truck cause I know it's going to last me for a long time. I changed the oil last night and swear I wish I would of known I needed that 5/16 tube for the oil filter replacement. Got a little messy. I treated her right though. I changed her oil last night with Mobil 1 full synthetic oil and mobil 1 filter. Already got her undercoated and Rustprof. Weather Tech window visors, bug visor, and front and back floor mats. My most favorite though is my Tannoue bakflip.

Well welcome aboard! If your lazy and always forget to pick up the hose for the filter drain, a large McDonald's Styrofoam cup wedges in just right in a pinch.;)

Off the top of my head:

With the key in the ignition switched to off, go to trip A on the odometer, push and hold the reset while switching the key to on (not starting, just to on), hold for about 5 seconds and then you will see all dashes and they start to disappear, hold until you see all zeros.

Only thing I'm not sure of, for my wife's camry it is the same except a different trip, so if the above doesn't work, try it in trip B or on the main odometer.

Oh, one other side note, I have never done it with out the light being completely on. It should still work though.
