hey how did you like your trial gear low profile bumper? i need a new front bumper and didnt want to have to weld it to the truck quite yet so i was looking for a bolt on. but anyways how did you like yours? also how did you mount your lights to it? i either want to mount a 22 inch led light bar or 3 7inch kragen hids on it. awesome truck btw ...

Love the Trail Gear bumper. It's relatively lightweight and very strong. And I like the looks of it. No complaints.

I got the optional Lightbar from TG. Comes with light tabs for mounting lights.

awesome im going to try and order it sometime soon then and just pick up the light tabs they have on the sight as well and see if a friend can weld em on for me. what did you end up doing with your turn signals? i want to see if i can get some led strips, convert the old blinkers and just mount them on the bumper somehow

    One way to do it..

    http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/1st-gen-tacomas/186115-free-blinker-light-relocation-mod.html

you can also rewire the marker lights as blinkers. Just do a search on it.

Adam, how did you have to invest into your skids? And where did you get those sweet Brackets?

I think I used a 3x3' sheet of 3/16th plate which cost me about $30 I think. I also used some 2x3" 3x16 angle for the front mounting of the IFS skid. The 3" drop of the angle was the perfect size to protect the radiator.

Total I think I spent about $60 on materials/consumables + the brackets which were about $50. So just over $100 for all 3 skids.

    Got the brackets here:

so adam ive always wondered.... what r the benefits to glass fenders? purely up travel clearance, and width coverage? oh and looking cool? lol.... but the dont change the pinch welds right? so it doesnt necessarily allow for bigger tires right?

    yes.

Glass fenders are only part of the solution for bigger tires and there are other ways to go about it like trimming the stock fenders. In Utah they are pretty strict about having fenders that completely cover the tires so eliminating the stock fender flares and trimming the fenders would leave too much tire uncovered so that isn't really an option for me.

Bushwacker flares would be a possiblity but I don't really like the look of those. My past two pick ups both had glass fenders and worked out well for me and yeah, I think they look good too.

To fully accomplish what I'm after it will include some tubbing of the firewall as well. So the glass fenders are just one step in the process. I'm still not 100% sure I'm going with 35's but even going to a wider 33" tire will cause some additional rubbing. With the glass fenders and some BFH to the firewall I can make the bigger 33's work. Then when/if I go to 35's I'm halfway there already and can finish tubbing the firewall.

Probably never gonna happen but if I went with a SAS sometime in the future the body mods will help with that as well.

ok cool cool, tubing the firewall means cutting it and refabing a plate further in towards the seats right? seams like a lot of work! i hate how small our wheel wells are....

Yep, a bit of work. It's really not that bad, but I'm just trying to figure out the best way to make the interior kick panels still work cleanly.

Yea it does a bit..but isn't huge. At least what Jon told me.

Im going to 35s next so tubing is on my list as well. I can tell you tho now that ill still have to trim the Fiberglass fenders by the fire wall to not make them rub.

Box Rocket, this is off topic but how are your cv boots/axles with the amount of lift you are running? Other than the diff drop have you done anything else like the boot slide mod?

No Boot slide mods. I have torn both original boots since the lift went on. I'm running aftermarket CV's currently without issues. Both are factory reman units.

Damn. Wasn't what I was hoping to hear. I have 883s with trim packer and stock bumper which probably isn't as much lift as your 882s plus trim, but my boots seem to be wearing. Probably gonna have to go down the same road you did. What company are the axles?
