    Hey guys,

I just got my new 09 V6 Double Cab Long bed with TRD Sport and tow package. I am trying to setup my brake controller, but I cannot find the connector behind the dash. I read the entire towing bible and the owers manual bairly shows where it is. I have my pigtail that was from my glove compartment, but I CANNOT find the connecter. I had all the panels off looking for it, and looked for about 45 minutes with a flash light. Did they move it on the 09s? is it already plugged into something? or is it lose? I totally cannot find it and i need my brake controller hooked up by monday.

    Thanks in advance!

To my knowledge the plug remains in the same location on the 09's as on on the rest of the 05+ trucks. That location is slightly above, or just below the upper edge of the driver's side kick panel, almost right up against the firewall.

Some members have reported the plug being taped up in a bundle of wires, where others have found it hanging free, so you might have to feel some wire bundles for the connector if perhaps yours is taped up.

    Regards,

That's the exact spot mine was located at. I have an 08 and it was was taped to a bunch of other wires. It was a pain in the azz to locate/get to.

On my 2009 2wd 2.7 - the plug is not to be found. It just is not there.

Myself and another forum member, bryanc, have not been able to find the plug on his truck either. His is also 2009 2wd 2.7. Perhaps this is particular to the 2.7 engine though or 2009 models. Toyota Canada says it is there though - they check through the vin. But it is not there.

It is not there on the 2.7. The 4.0 and the 2.7 use completely different wiring harnesses and since the tow package is only an option on the v6 trucks the 2.7 trucks will not have the brake controller plug.

I FINALLY! found it and hooked up my prodigy brake controller. I also installed firestone airbags to help the ride with my car hauler. The air bag instructions were just like 1 page and sucked, the first rear side took me about 5 hours, once i figured it all out the next rear side only took about an hour....

08BlackTacoma, any chance you could post a picture of where the connector is? I'm having the same issue finding the connector on my '09 DC TRD Sport. I've spent 30 minutes with a flashlight going through the entire side panel and can't find a single connector that's not plugged into something already.

I had a thread asking for help with some pictures:

    http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/towing/36785-brake-controller-install-help-request.html

I'm about ready to run down to the dealer's service dept. this afternoon to enlist their help.
