Also, do you mind sharing which post you used as a guide? I've seen several and there are slight differences in each. I want to do this bad so I'm going to stop being chicken and make it happen!!

I've done this before on past vehicles but this was the write-up I referenced for taking apart the Tacoma lights

Treadwright.com, pretty good reviews from members on here who off-road with them, mud, rock crawl, and just all around off road. Just something to consider

Yes I was expecting it to be a pain, but it was a breeze. This is my second set, first one being on my STi. Pretty much the same.

I too have looked at all the threads and wasn't sure which to use, so I just used to the sticky in the "Lighting" section of this forum:
    http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/lighting/2327-blacking-out-headlights-how.html

For the 12s a lot of people say it's easier if you take the bumper off but I didn't have to (didn't want to deal with misalignment issues putting it back on). My arms are long enough to reach the hidden bolt behind the bumper, then you just feel around for it and ratchet away (10mm).

    Good luck to you man.

    here ya go.

sonic electronic . com or beay had the parts I needed for about 60 total. about an hour worth of time since i had the doors apart anyway for sound deadening and what not.

check it out. very easy to follow instructions. I am a complete idiot when it comes to electronical stuff. i would NEVER attempt this, but this "how to" was a piece of cake. I had NO hiccups when doing this mod. Hardest part was actually snipping OEM wires....scary....lol.

Applying butt connectors was the 2nd hardest part.

Now my driver and passenger windows will roll all the way down with one touch AND will go all the way back up with one touch. ALSO using the key fob, I can double press the unlock and vent the windows (down an inch) and on a triple press of the Lock the windows will roll all the way up. SAH-WEET

Here's an installed picture. Sorry for the phone camera quality... I went to the carwash and forgot i was going to paint the radiator and post grill area when I got home so that is still on the list to do but it doesn't look terrible without it painted. Also my horns are going to get re-located, they look stupid back there...

    Cheers,
    ~M

I really dig it. I have been wanting to do this, but was wanting a satoshi more. I don't think that a satoshi for the 2012 will happen so I am gonna go this route.

A couple of warnings about this mod:

    1) 530's are NOTORIOUS for crapping out frequently and often. (yeah, that was intentional because that's how often it happens)

    2) The auto down function on Tacoma's has a tendency to freak out the 530 from time to time and you'll get some weird chattering or jerking up and down or whatever you want to call it.

This of course isn't every single module but it does happen often enough that you should give it careful consideration before attempting. It's not flawless victories for everyone so take that into consideration that you may lower your Toyota reliability or introduce electric gremlins into your setup.

I just wish Toyota would get on board with making this standard on all buttons like many other manufacturers do these days. The cost is nominal and there's no reason not to really. I can see why they don't though since they can't make these things fast enough to sell as they are so why invest more R&D to fix something that ain't broken? If sales start to dip they'll have more drive to add some more features to these things. Until then, we keep getting yesterday's technology at tomorrow's prices. :p

^ It was a really straight forward install. The backs of the TOYOTA letters are recessed so I set some machine bolts in there and epoxied them to the back of the letters in places where they would go through the grill mesh. After the epoxy cured I put washers and lock washers on the back and bolted the letters and fj40 emblem to the grill. It is rock solid and I'm pretty certain the leters will crack before the bolts pull off... Loving the look so far :)
