    Tech Junkie,

Are they more of a step than Damage control from rocks?

Sorry for all the questions. New to sliders and trucks in general. I wanted to know if the kick up is like a step. Almost likes flair side, our is it pure protection.

Sliders, in their purist form, are meant to protect the rocker panel.

Heavy gauge tubing that can support the weight of the vehicle. Mine do offer a step, but it is narrow and very close to the body. Useful for getting to things on the roof. My Girlfriend is 5'02", she needs them to get into the truck. The kickout is added protection and leverage on narrow trails. Keep in mind these are very heavy. 140lbs. It's like having another passenger.

I might be better off With something custom then. Its my first new truck. I can't imagine on a trail. I was hoping the sliders gave a place to knock off mud and snow before getting in, and the kick out as way to Reach into truck bed. Thanks again junky for pics. Your truck looks great and i like the grate on top of slider.

I use mine for kicking off mud and snow all the time in the winter. And if you go with sliders that have a large enough kickout then it can certainly be used as a step to access the front of the bed or even the roof of the truck

this. i can’t wait to get some. also i think i read on here some where, that someone had them angled down instead of up so they can be used as a step as well. even agled up you can use as a step but they are tucked up close to the body to maximize ground clearance.

i’m not that tall or all that short, 5.7” 5.8 and stock i don’t need anything. only think i can’t get is the roof to wash it.

    Thanks CLynch.

I'm with DoorDing though. There is no real reason for you to custom build something. There are plenty bolt on nerf/step bars out there.

Without me going through the whole thread to find my answer...

For the sliders that are listed as Bolt-On, do they use existing holes already in the truck frame? I live in NEFL and our largest rocks are grains of sand, so I don't really need a slider, but I like the looks of these VS many of the nerf bars.

I've agonized over your bumper thread and finally decided on All Pro's rear bumper and it looks great! Now gotta figure out the rest of the armour.
