Hi Folks, Has anyone had their AC Controls light(s) go out behind the control that directs airflow (windsheild, face, feet, etc.). I checked the two bulbs mentioned in the service manual and they worked fine, but I can't see there are more bulbs in the service manual, nor know whats causing it to not work. Has anyone else experienced this before.

Today, I have my truck in for service and when I called to make the appt, I asked how much to change out the bulb?? They said $120-150, plus cost of bulb $5-8. I said, could I just buy the bulb, they said I have to take it completely apart and give them the burnt bulb because they don't have bulb part numbers because Toyota doesn't make bulbs.

The service guy checked to see it wasn't working, but didn't say anything so now I'm wondering if its the unit itself or a bulb I can't get to easily... help!

my light doesn't work sometimes on the fan speed side. i can bump it and it comes back on sometimes i think its just loose, but you should be able to take a flat head screw driver and pop the whole rectangle out where ur controlls are and get to ur bulbs. there was a vid on youtube i saw with a guy putting LED's in so you could watch that to find out how to take ur bulb out.

I tried LEDs and they sucked. The way the panel is designed, it needs the omnidirectional pattern.

There are two lights in the back. It's a 1/4 turn base.

    Go here: http://autolumination.com/74.htm
Scroll halfway down and search for "Type B (T4)"

    You want the clear Type-B
    A whopping $2 each.

Try using your closed fist and whacking it.

    Seriously.

I had that problem after pulling mine out when installing a radio. Whack it hard once and it came back, problem never showed itself until I pulled the panel again.

Yea, I was painting the double double din for the stereo and the cover to the ac knobs when I noticed that switch was no longer working after i reinstalled it. I know both bulbs work since the buttons both light up. Do any of you think it's a short or something? I saw the service writer whack it a little but it didn't come on again. I thought he was just checking that it was pushed in all the way. Didn't know he was trying to fix it. Haha. Any ideas? Just whack it?

    Yes.
    Slap it. Really.

Those are pretty much the first lights to go out on every Toyota we own. Slap it. Comes back on. Lasts quite a while longer.

Or you could get the dealer to replace them.

The left side of my controls would go out from time to time. Same thing,I would hit it and it came back on but would go out again. I replaced the bulb with a new one from Toyota dealer. Problem solved:) I think the bulb cost like 12.00 they had them in stock

thats the case for most of us, i just tighten back the light bulb and its fixed, and if it still comes loose i use my sisters glue gun :) just little bit.

Thanks Rich, got me a set of 3 for $10 & change but better than buying them at the dealership. i will keep these in my stock inventory :)
