Clay has been rolling around in Russia with Expeditions 7. It began as the idea of a local celebrity/cruiserhead Greg Miller. He runs the Larry Miller Corporation which owns the Utah Jazz, Miller Motorsports Park, a ton of car dealerships etc all over Utah and other western states. Greg Miller organized Cruiserfest a TLCA sanctioned Toyota event at Miller Motorsports park. He is a serious Land Cruiser fanatic and has an impressive collection. Greg also purchased and is partnered with Proffits Cruisers. It was that partnership that put together the E7 project.

Thy have included several industry people on the trip including Clay from Xoverland.com. Kurt Williams from Cruiser Outfitters and others.

I haven't done an "expedition" by any means but for a almost entirely stock pickup I have had some good trips just sleeping in the bed and bringing some extra fuel for extended range. I'm thinking about a secondary or larger fuel cell for better range . . .

 

That pretty much says you have the bug...just have fun with it and keep building on your experiences...There's no true definition of an overland vehicle, that's the whole fun part of it, you get to build what you want and be who you are!

 

For my local terrain all the armor and larger tires aren't necessary, yet. I do love being functional in most any situation and also enjoy getting good mileage so I've been keeping it ultra lightweight where possible. I think of all the "genres", so to speak, of off roaders "overlanders" get what you just said better than anyone else. Your truck, your experience, be you and make your truck fit who you are

 

I need help people! Any input would be very helpful. I am looking for a setup that I can use to haul my dirtbike(s). Possibly a RTT with bedrack, and a trailer hitch bike caddy? I would like to stay off the ground while sleeping. Even in the truck box would be fine. Maybe a soft topper. But I need sufficient storage space and I don't like having to move all the crap out of my box, back into the cab at night(that's if I'm in the box).

For those of you who aren't familiar, this is what I am referring to as a bike caddy.

Only issue with this is it will limit my rear clearance a little bit. Unless I was to modify it to so higher.

Any ideas?

 

You'll be pretty limited with the bike hanging off the rear. Even if you raise it I think the bike would be too tall.

Also plan on so beefy rear leafs to take that extra weight.

Bed rack amd RTT I think is the best option for bed space and comfort as well as keeping the COG down and the rig still very trail ready

 

Just wondering where my options are for the bike.... Hanging off the rear would definitely sink the back down a little. However with the bike in the box right now it barely sinks at all. I've got standard allpro leafs. Bedrack+bike will definitely add up though. Thanks for bringing that to my attention. Maybe I can build my own slim bike caddy. That only sticks out a foot or so.

 

Allpro expos woulda been better for all that weight haha but yea you could make something custom. Not sure why you'd want to ride a trail in the truck and take a bike tho..

 

I take my truck some cool places, then ride! But mostly it's not that I'll be needing the clearance, it's that I don't want to be limited. As well as I want a solid place to sleep and not have to move a bunch of crap around to make room every night.
