I searched and found several posts about these airbags but not an answer to my specific question...

Do airbags limit your rear travel? Specifically your drop? From the way they are mounted (mounted to the frame and the leaf spring) that this would limit down travel. Meaning do the bags stretch long enough to allow for full axle drop off road?

    Thanks World!

Curious as well, found this on firestones install instructions

    NOTE:
Once the air helper springs are installed, it is recommended that the vehicle not be lifted by the frame, as over-extension may occur, resulting in damage to the air helper springs. However, should it become necessary to raise the vehicle by the frame, deflate both air helper springs completely.

I think it depends on how much your suspension articulates. I ran them for almost 2 years with stock rear suspension and never worried about it. Never had a problem either. I know my suspension reached full droop many times. I don't recall reading about anyone here who has had a problem either. If you tried to install them with an aftermarket spring and shock set-up then you could have an issue.

I've had them on for a couple years with dakar springs. I do quite a bit of offroading and have never had a problem.

Good to know, i just bought dakars and have always tossed around the of airbags because i tow and haul alot. I think the dakars will be enough for me but ill see how they do with over 1000lbs in the bed

If you have longer shocks than stock you could tear a bag apart. If you have the bags aired up to higher pressures, and max out the travel, the shocks could potentially tear apart, which is why firestone does not recommend lifting by the frame unless you deflate the bags. At 5 psi minimum pressure, you won't have an issue with stock lenght shocks, no matter the terrain. You really shouldn't be maxing out downtravel with a big load anyway.
