Coupla points of reference for OP. Had 18x9s on the old 05 AC. First, with 285/60/18 NTGs that are 31.5 OD and 5100s at 2.5 lift up front/1.5 AAL out back/LR UCAs, had to remove front mud flaps for clearance there. No rubbing in front of wheel well and very close but no rubbing on cab mount............

Second, same rims, same suspension but with 275/65/18 GY Duratracs 32" OD. Had to trim little hangy box from front of wheel well liner. No other rubbing........

I have 18x9 wheels with 0 offset with a 2" leveling kit and 265 tires (very similar to what you're trying to run). I had to remove the front mud flap on the front bumper (only exists on 2012's) and now I have no rubbing at all. And I believe this is offset is enough to run 285's in the future.

Tire height comes into the equation as well - what height are you planning on running?

As far as wider stance goes - look at my photo gallery - i have comparison photos between what I have now vs. stock. I'm sure this will help you make your decision. and YES -12mm offset wheels will stick out 1/2" further, and rubbing will be worse.

no offense to anyone posting previously but if your posting pics that can actually help this is what kind should be shown.....(not the tire or wheel in question)

full front static stuff (you can see what would actually rub)

full rear static stuff (you can see what would actually rub)

I think all of the photos are valid - and he can sift through them on his own. If he finds that a different offset will achieve the look he wants without risking rubbing, then we are helping him by posting photos from our own experience.

By the way - your photos are great, but they'd benefit even more if you gave lift, tire, wheel specs as well.

I appreciate all the photos guys. I'm going to go to the tire shop today and see how the 265s look. I'm not sure if wheelpros would exchange these wheels for a different offset, but I may try that if all else fails. Also, I don't know the first thing about lifting or levelling, so I may read up on that. Seems like everyone likes the Bilsteins so I may look into those.

Thanks everyone and I didn't mean to create a shit storm of a thread, but it was fairly comical.

What good is the static shot without the tire/wheel/suspension info there with it? How many pages back was that info?

    My point exactly

Agreed - just trying to help out a guy!

By the way, i think your best bet is 265/60r18. 30.5" tire, same as stock, only change is your backspacing/offset. 285/60r18 is definitely going to cause some rubbing IMO, but i've never ran it myself. Good luck man.

Haha, I'm noticing that looking through other threads!

Thanks man... btw, saw in your sig that you went with a 2" leveling kit. What did you end up going with?

Don't trade wheels if you like the look of the ones you have. A 4.5" backspacing (same as -12mm offset with 9" wide wheel) is EXACTLY what you want if you plan on stepping up to 285s. Its the perfect balance of pulling the tire and wheel far enough out so the tire doesn't come in contact with the UCA or the frame, and yet it's not too far out to where you have to do any major trimming. Worst case you cut off some plastic fender liners, beat the pinchweld flat, and a cab mount chop. All of which can be done in an hour.

I went with 265/65r18, which is 31.5" tire.

The tire width wasnt much of an issue when it came to having to trim, it was the tire diameter itself combined with the 5" backspacing that pushed the tire out 1.25" beyond where it was from stock. That's why I think you 'might' be fine with 265/60r18.

I second everything the dude above just said. If thats what youre looking for, then do it. For my truck I picked 265 with 5" backspacing on 9" rims and its exactly what I was looking for - maybe i'm the weird one .

Leveling/lifting is an entire other can of worms, i'm not getting into that on this thread, lol

Thanks for the lesson, I'm familiar with how to calculate backspacing and offset (given rim width)...considering I mentioned it on the first page earlier for the OP's wheels (4.52") and again on the third page:

So excuse me for assuming which factory wheels the OP (and you) had.

wow, now the shitstorm is starting...

I'm just trying to help out OP - backspacing is sometimes confusing and if someone had explained it to me the way that I just explained it, I'd have understood a lot faster. And if he understands, then that's cool, he can just ignore my post.

Your post made it seem like you were confused by how two wheels with the same backspacing could result in pushing the wheels out 1.25" (obviously, you and I both know, its because of the different rim width).

    Relax buddy.
