Yes, but is there a way to safely and responsibly keep it off once it is tripped?

Did all 2012's come with seat airbags?

I think if he is able to maintain the function of the front standard airbags then we are good....right?

Someone on here swapped his stock seats out for aftermarket ones. I believe it was a later regular cab with side airbags. I think he wired some resistors in to make the truck's airbag module thing the side airbags were still connected.

As far as I know, any 2012 will have seat airbags. I don't see a reason why you can't just leave those seat airbags unplugged. The problem I see is that the 2006 has sensors in the seats that the airbag module uses to determine what position the seat is in, what position the driver is in, etc. You'd have to keep those hooked into the circuit somewhere, and you'd want them to be fully functional, or risk the front airbags going off at the wrong time, or not at all.

Hmmm...sounds like we'd both have to play with the wiring to make both front airbags function properly. Too much hassle.
