Hey what's up guys , I'm new to the site. Just picked up a 2005 tacoma 4 door v6 auto TRD for a hell of a bargain . 55000 km and in mint shape, not one scratch or dent , only smells like smoke :( oh well , anyways ... I already ordered Bds's 6 inch Kit without the coil overs I'm just wondering if I should lift the truck with a 3 inch body lift on top of the 6 inch suspension lift if that's possible or it will be even more money or just turn into an overall headache , Also I'm wondering what's the best type of tires and rims set up I should get for the truck I'm going to be driving it a lot during the winter -40 temperatures with lots of snow but I do want a tire that looks beefy and can imitate the look of a mud tire something that's going to make the truck look badass and not look funny. Feel free to chip in if there's anything that I'm missing here extra installation steps or extra costs that are going to happenfrom installing the body lift after the suspension lift !!! Thanks a lot everybody I really appreciate your input

Welcome to TW! also be ready for a crapstorm. most hat body lifts, for good reasons. but 3” body lift is very unsafe! if you get in a bad crash the cab can come off the frame.

I want to be able to put either 35 or 37 inch tires without any rub

for 6” lift all you have to do is the cop the body mount some, and trim some of the plastic in the fender. from what i understand 37’s you would have to do a lot of cutting!! if you do a body lift and got in a crash the cab may come off the frame and you get hurt even worse! 2” body mounts are also unsafe. if any body mount don’t go over 1”.

Get ready for the :crapstorm: lol. I also believe your going to want to re gear with 35's or 37's

From the stock 30.5" tire moving up to 35?

    Yes... you need to regear.

Just say no to 3" body lifts. You may want to strongly consider re gearing going up to a 37" tire.

So much for preventative measures haha now he's just jumped right to fixing whatever broke (and will probably have to regear anyways)

just wondering if you guys have a newer style tacoma with a 6 inch lift and 35s, i have been running them now for about 2 days, noticed a SLIGHT mpg decrease, a SLIGHT loss of power ( only when climbing steep hills ) .... Wondering if over time the differential will just shred from the tires, but thats LONG down the beaten track, after I have installed new axles... But for now, Im very happy to say If you really dont want to regear, you dont need too. Power is just fine for this 20 year old. ( and I like to go full throttle in every vehicle )

We learn from our own and others mistakes. And when someone (lots of someones in this case) gives advice you should take it into consideration.

We aren't the one who took a torch and a welder to their truck and now has a wheel that locks up after 3/4 turn.
