The 883 coils are designed for the heavier 2nd gen tacomas. 590 lbs I believe. They are going to be stiff as hell, but I have heard of people doing these on 1st gens

Update on the truck... This is a message I got from the owner:

Sorry no chance for pics yet. Been very working 14 hr days. threads about 60% left, SC has about 36, 000 miles. Just changed the rotrex
oil. Only selling cause cali smog laws, it not I would kerp it for sure.

    -------------------

Still would appreciate any input towards this purchase. We haven't gotten to talk numbers yet. I just responded to him and asked him if the truck was throwing any codes or anything. I've got an old college buddy that lives in San Diego that I might see if he knows a mechanic to take a look at it. But I'm still skeptical because the seller hasn't really given me the time of day. We've only communicated through PM's to date....

Oh well, maybe I'll get some good news back from him...

He sounds shady, but maybe he is just really busy. I would definitely have your buddy take a look at it before you fly that far for nothing and lose a perfectly good scooped hood! lol...

It's great! Rides like a sports car, no retarded understeer like you would expect with a steel brick up front. I've gone 16+ hours at a time in this truck and show little fatigue because of supportive seat and "just right" suspension.

I have Bilsteins on the 4runner, but I wanted a "set it and forget it" on my Tacoma. After 3 years of driving the piss out of the Taco I am going to put some 1/2 isolators to push the front back up a hair.

I love Old Man Emu so much, I run OME RUF CS009R on the front of my 4runner. Flex and ride great on it too.

material used has a lot to do with it too. Density of material will affect ride.

The main leaf does most of the work. Provides your downtravel rate, and controls the first hairs of uptravel, the second leaf wrapped all around that counts in there too. Length of leafs provide leverage and shit.

all sorts of stuff dictate ride and travel, imagine how easy it is to bend a long pencil on a desk, now try a shorter pencil.
