I am starting my stereo up grade and I want to deaden the truck. Looking for any reviews on the Elemental Designs eDead 80. I found a pretty good deal on some on 120 sq/ft. Recommendations would be fine as well.

    Thanks

Hey TW members get a discount on RAAMAT and it is a great product from what I hear. I am going to pick up a set for my birthday in a few days :)

Sport wheels added.
For the money, I've not seen a better deal than the RAAMmat. You get a lot of coverage for a great price.

I can remember seeing people dropping well over a grand in sound deadening (and I'm sure you still can). So the RAAMmat deal is even better.

Unless you are seriously considering sound competition, there will be little difference once you deaden it with any of them. Your installation will have a bigger effect on the overall outcome than the material you use IMO. .02

Also, I've never used eDead but I read in the Sound Deadener Showdown that eDead was not very good. I becomes unreliable when in hot or cold environments. Raamat was voted as the best value finishing the competition in second place between several popular deadening products Second Skin Damplifier won but it is a lot more expensive.

I have used Raamat in my entire truck - doors, floor, roof, backwall, interior panels. I haven't done the dash that is about it. It has held up well. It is very flexible and easy to install also. I have used about 2 and a half rolls in a regular cab. I have never gotten cut by the foil. A lot of people also say that they have but I don't know how.

#1 rule in deadening (at least in my book) that isn't very well emphasized is to clean whatever surface you are deadening with Denatured alcohol if you have a nice clean surface the deadener will adhere better.

Great input fellas. eDead looked good at $240 for 120 sq/ft but if it is shit, then....Raamat it is.

call Rick @Raamaudio he gives the Tacoma World members a discount but you have to tell him that you are a forum member. What all are you planning on doing? The doors I'm sure but the floor, roof, backwall? I can give you my opinion.

Excuse my ignorance...there are several categories of denatured alcohol, what exactly do you recommend? I was planning on using plain old rubbing alcohol for my install, but if there is something better/more effective I'm all ears.

You'll have to excuse my ignorance but I wasn't aware that there are different classes of Denatured Alcohol. I've always gotten the gallon size from Lowes. If you are just doing say the doors you could get away with getting a small size of alcohol. But I've just only used the kind at Lowes that is on the shelf next to mineral spirits and acetone

Perfect...thats exactly what I wanted to know. Thanks for the prompt reply.

Perhaps in this case Wiki caused me more confusion than necessary :)
