This never happend. It's impossible for an adult age male human to put diesel in a gas engine by "mistake".

It would be like asking a guy to bring you a wrench and him bring back a screwdriver. It is simply not possible.

    Thank you.

Ive heard of it happening. I know a guy who was out west and stopped at a station. One of those middle of nowhere one pump stations. One side of the pump was gas, the other side was diesel. He had a diesel truck and mistakenly filled up on the gas side (pump was poorly marked iirc). He didnt make it very far.

Yep. Gasoline in a diesel is possible for sure. I've seen that happen, and it wasn't a small town, remote station either.

I've never seen diesel in a gasoline engine, just heard about it on the internets, but that doesn't mean it's impossible.

Thats what I was thinking. If the dude can't put the correct fuel in his truck, nothing good will come from him climbing under it with a fist full of wretches.

The diesel nozzle is always bigger than the gasoline nozzle so you can't insert the diesel nozzle into a gasoline car

This reminds me about a friend of mine that went to put gas in his offshore boat....he removed the gas cap grabbed the fuel nozzle from the pump, stuck it in the rod holder and pumped away. He managed to pump over 50 gallons before realizing what happened. Ended up having to shut the gas station down and call hazmat to remove the gas from the hull.

This happened to me with my previous 06 Tacoma. I had two Jerry cans laying around, one with diesel for a diesel truck we had and one for my Tacoma. I graved the wrong can and pored it in. A mile down the road my truck died and had it towed to a shop. $1500 dollars later my truck was good as new. Lesson learned, marked the cans and I double check every time I put gas in.

No they are not, they are the same size as a gas nozzle unless you are at a truck stop. The large size is for tanks in excess of 50 gallons you can not fill a car or small truck with the big nozzle because you would end up with most of it on the ground due to the huge difference in volume. I drove a VW TDI for 220,000 miles and all though it got 50MPG in 220,000 you get to fill it in a lot of different places. The colors are another thing you can't relay on them to be the same every where.

    This..........

And this too..................even if same size, aren't the diesel nozzles and hoses bright green compared to black for gas? Even at truck stops? Why wouldn't they be if not?

Not true here in Texas. Almost every gas station has diesel, they are all marked accordingly, and they all have larger fill nozzles. This is how it is even in the smallest of towns.
