I just ripped my skid plate off in a snow drift. Who makes the best bang for your buck skid plate? I only saw 1 or 2 choices.

If you just want another stock one, i no longer use mine. Would sell it cheap.

Or, you could do what I did and grab some 3/16" steel and weld up a BudBuilt copy. Wasn't to tough, looked at some pictures, took some measurements and bingo-bango. Saved about $400.

You might want to talk to Jerry at BAMF. He has a first genner too and I know he's all about armor.

Jerry doesn't make ifs skids yet. And the word 'best' will bring out a bunch of biased members here who own a companies & call it the 'best.' Just look for any 3/8" (or 1/4" if you really want protection) skid & you'll be fine.

I see, I don't know why he wouldn't though I was just there yesterday and his rig looks a lot more offroad ready and capable then mine currently is.

I built my 'copy' of that for ~$120 worth of steel. And i kicked about $40 to the friend whose metal cutting circular saw and welder i used.

One thing i highly recommend, get some 1/2" angle iron (4-5 feet should do) and brace the larger open areas on the front and in the belly area. it helps immensely with overall strength. No need to go 1/4" for the steel plate, 3/16" is plenty if braced and weighs far, far less.

I don't mean to turn potential customers from BB or any other company offering wares, but if you have the tools and can lay a half way decent bead. You can do this yourself.

You are right, because technically your paying big money on only 100 something dollars worth of material, labor, and the "name"
