Just got a bed mat for my access cab. Anyone secure theirs to the bed? Not sure how popular they are, if I need to worry about theft.

I would definitely secure it if your bed is exposed. Mine is semi-secure beneath my bakflip fibermax tonneau cover and tailgate lock, but I have seen several members secure theirs to the bed with a screw near the front of the bed. I think most have drilled a small hole through the bed mat and bed and inserted a screw. It won't stop all theft but it will at least slow them down.

When I bought my bedmat I was always worried it would be stolen or possibly even blow out of the truck so I did the mod. Price was a couple of bucks and 5 minutes and even though it's not a great deterrent it would take somebody a little time/effort so hopefully they would move on. It's quick, simple-may stop theft so why not do it?

I drove my truck for almost 2 years with the rubber bedmat and no topper and never worried about securing the mat once. I live in a smaller town of 35k people so that might be why tho.

I installed another factory D-Ring in the middle of the front of the bed (enlarged the drain hole) and ran the bolt through the bed mat to secure it.

Some people use the torx head bolts that bolt the bed down to the frame to secure the mat as well.

I used the existing bed bolt locations to go through the mat. I have additional D rings on all my bed bolts so I figured why cut the mat around the D rings when I can just bolt through it.

There's no drilling required, you just lose the middle bed drain hole. The hole is plenty big enough for a bolt to go through already.

Happy to live where I don't have to worry about someone stealing the bed mat from the back of my truck.

Sad that others have this concern. :(

yep! and cheaper than oem. i had to cut it down around the wheel wells and a foot off the end. and i have the extra, so if i got a tool box or something i could line the bottom of it as well.

I only bolted mine down because I saw it fly out the back one time when going through the huge blow dryers at the car wash. Had a 3/8 bolt and standard washer in there when it flew out again at the same car wash. Now it has a huge fender washer.
