That bracket comes off with a 12mm. You can push it up out of the way enough to get your hand in there like the passenger side.

Also those lines are malleable enough to leave in clips and gently spread to clear bolts.

One of these days I'll get around to cutting some washer/handles for those two. I've never had an issue and most don't, but a few do. Pictures!

Sliders installed today, had to use a jack to get a couple of the holes to line up but a pretty straight forward install. It was a bitch getting the front bolt in on the drivers side, had to squeeze past the brake lines. I love the way they look. This is a quality product. I will get some photos posted soon, but as I live in Va Beach we are getting ready for Sandy.

    Hey All,

First and foremost, I want to thank Derek for such a quality product and pleasurable transaction. He was upfront with all of my questions, quick to respond to PM's, followed through with the timeline he quoted me, and delivered a great product when he said he would.

For anyone still considering Famous Fabrication sliders, I can say that I am very pleased with the results and would recommend them to anyone.

Here is a picture of them on the truck: 2013 Double Cab Short Bed
    SliderIso_0629887f77df1f1ee54cc6675319744d126224ac.jpg

I decided to get mine Line-X'd. I went back and forth on what I was going to coat them with. I first bought Rustoleum black spray paint, because it would be the easiest to touch up, but then realized that I wouldn't really get the chance to beat them up against rocks for a number of years. I will be in training for the next 6-8 months, and then I PCS to Ft. Hood, TX - probably won't run into a lot of rocks there. I didn't want to have to touch them up because of gravel roads or the weather. I then bought some Herculiner on a whim, but before I applied it, I looked it up on here and other sites. I read that it would hold up against rock chips (gravel roads) and weather, but would eventually fade and flake/chip off after 3-5 years. This would be right around the time I hopefully PCS from Ft. Hood, but I wanted the coating to last a bit longer than that. Finally I pulled the trigger on having them Line-X'd. It was $125 for both of them, and it comes with a lifetime warranty. I figure if they get banged up in a few years, I can have them touched up / recoated. Until then, they should continue to look great.

Here is a few more pictures of them:

I wanted to point out to anyone that is considering having their sliders Line-X'd, that there will be fitment issues due to the tight tolerances and the thickness of the Line-X coating. I had issues pressing the "U-hook" (see photo below) at the front of the sliders up into place. The combination of the thick Line-X coating and the fact that there is a weld in the corner of the two frame members required a hydraulic jack (lifting the truck up off the ground) to bend the "hook" around the frame and into place. If one is careful, this can be done without damaging anything, but I was expecting to be able to hold them in place with our hands and bolt them up - this was not the case. The jack make it nice though because it held them up for us, limiting muscular fatigue.

    SliderTightFit_9789693fe9ad9a56cbd33a7982af88fc8a4105dd.jpg

Also, the only factory bolt that we were required to reuse was rendered useless by the thick Line-X coating. It was just too short to thread back into the fixed nut in the frame member. I picked up a new M10 x 1.25 grade 8 bolt at an Ace Hardware that was 0.5" longer to replace it. The factory bolt is a grade 10 bolt (I believe), and I may end up replacing the one I have in now with a longer grade 10, but I needed something to help with alignment during the install. The new bolt can be seen in the picture below (the only silver bolt, bolting into the bottom of the frame rail).

If anyone has any other questions, I'd be happy to answer them. I hope this was helpful!

Just the essentials and no extra fluff.
I placed my order with Famous Fabrications on a Sunday and picked up my sliders from Fastenal ten days later. They came as well packaged as an awkward bundle of steel tubing can be and with all the hardware. Scuffed them up with sand paper, cleaned them with mineral spirits, painted with rustoleum self etching primer, and painted them with rustoleum spray on bed liner. I used two cans of primer and three cans of bed liner. I suggest suspending them from the ceiling while painting them. The support tubes are open on the back to the mounting plates so a hook can be inserted into the support tubes to facilitate this. I have a couple marks in the paint on mine from flipping them over on the pallets I used even after waiting a couple days for the paint to dry.

With the assistance of my wife I got them mounted on the truck. I found that I could reach into the boxed sections of the frame just far enough to get the nut and washer on. On the driver's side I had to remove the brake line bracket and it was a tight squeeze, but doable unless you have giant meat hooks. The factory cross member bolts were not long enough to fully thread into the cross member. I picked some up at the local Ace Hardware that were half an inch longer.

Jumped up and down on them, gave the Hi-Lift a go. Very satisfied so far. I'm sure weld on sliders would be more sturdy, but I don't plan on dragging the truck over any rocks, it's more of a just in case. The price of doing any rocker panel repairs would pay for the sliders, so I figure it was a wise investment. Overall I am very happy with the customer service and the product and highly recommend Famous Fabrications.

Hey Thomas, truck looks great. What thread size were the bolts for the cross member? What length did you get? I need them for my sliders. Dave

Well, I'm behind the 8 Ball. Haven't had time to be on Site much, and just saw this Thread.
Wasn't planning on Sliders 'til Spring, after a Lift. So I haven't done my research yet,
But Derek's Sliders are on the short list anyway, and this is a good deal, today.
Couple questions, for Derek or anyone.
    1) Weight of Sliders and Hardware? I'm guessin' about 100lbs.

Question #2 already answered in Black Friday Thread, thanks
    2) In pic below, would the front door open and clear the Slider? Tryin' to judge the flex of the Slider.
Can't tell from the angle in the pic.

    BTW, Nice design, Derek.
Maybe this should have been in the Slider Thread, May Do.

    Thanks
