Hopefully in the near future id like to set a mid-travel kit on a 05+ prerunner and i have a question on what coilover i should use. Ive narrowed it down between a few different ones, Fox ext travel, Walker Evens, and Icon ext travel. Just curious to what other people are useing and how you like them. And ill be useing Camburg UCA and there 4" spindles as well. And yes it will see some offroading and some fast desert stuff, it wont be just a street queen. Thanks

alot of metal, small engine, decent travel.
caged, camburg long travel, 50t leafpack (soon to be installed) light rack over cab, 5pt harnesses etc
    another vote for King.

For overall ride quality I would strongly suggest going with the Icon Extended Travels. By far the best riding OEM replacement coilover.

what? they have an IVD coating option that will prevent rust in areas that use salt on their roads...

i have heard the opposite as well, because of their progressive (or digressive, cant remember) valving. making them bumps over small bumps and smoother over bigger bumps.

Icon is the only company out of the 3 of the big ones that does any valving testing on the Tacoma (they test all of their kits). Fox and King have "suggested" valving that they ship out. Out of the box Icon is hands down the best option. If you want to play with your valving and feel comfortable rebuilding your own shocks by all means fox and king are nice options as well but 99.9% of the people buying replacement coilovers for these trucks (or any truck for that matter) will never go that far which is why Icon is the best option from the start.

Wut? This statement always amazes me. How could Icon know I added 700# of steel to my truck, where I put it, what conditions I'm driving in, or how I intend to drive? They can't thus their valving is not specific as....... well......see below.

DSMS custom valved my Kings for the terrain I told them I would be driving on, the weight of my modified truck, and how I told them I would be driving it. They also provide 1 free re-valve should you not like what they valved it to. I also got 700# coil springs due to the added weight. All backed up by a King and DSMS warranty for the same cost as a off the shelf set of Kings.

IMO there is NO way you can compare the two let alone state that Icon's are valved more specifically. It's just blasphemy.

    DSMS + King = WIN!

Well Fox is what i was thinking but i threw in Icon because of the ext travel option, but fox has the same option, and the price difference is super small. I really dont have the interest in rebuilding my own shocks so ill be sticking with whatever valving comes in them. From what ive read Fox and Icon both seem good, but just wanted to see what others are using, haha seems Fox is a little better. And id love to go Kings but a little out of the price range.

Isn't King the same cost? I know they were when I bought mine years ago.

Not sure who you are dealing with, but I would highly recommend you speak to someone at Down South Motor Sports.

How much travel could i expect with a aftermarket UCA and some ext travel coilovers? Was hopeing for around maybe 10" or so? And what do you do with your truck with the Ishock coilovers? Could they handle some high speed stuff?
