885's with nitro 90000 up font and dakars with n182's in the rear. i like it, however it is very rigid, especially at highway speeds on a rough alabama road. the back end has gotten squirrelly on me once or twice since switching to the dakars. but i expect a truck to drive and perform like a truck so i dont mind how loud my tires are nor how rough/harsh/rigid, whatever you may call it, the ride is. ive done several lift options in the past from spacers to eibachs and billies to the full ome up front and anything from blocks to single aal to progressive aal to the dakars on the rear. i must personally say that nothing i have had up front does as well as the ome does, but the progressive aal was def the best ride, yet the dakars do perform better. if that makes sense.

In your opinion, do you think the dakars and n182's in the rear would be stiff enough to prevent sag while towing a decent size offshore boat? 21foot palm beach?

Well heck, you have to do maintenance don't you? hahaha. Or do you do all that yourself? (Which isn't uncommon)

Depending on the tongue weight you might want to look at airbags. Nothing fancy with a compressor on board is required, you can plumb them into a schraeder valve on the bumper and just fill up when you need to tow. The shocks aren't going to help the spring rate, just going to dampen oscillation of the spring. You might want to go with the Dakar HD or whatever the part number is that has the additional overload leaf for carrying heavy loads.

What's that boat weigh? I mean at the end of the day it's still a V6 Tacoma, and it tows well for a truck its size. It isn't a full size 1/2 ton by any stretch of the imagination though.

There's a towing thread around here somewhere that has good info for towing at or near the rated capacity.

Yea its not a massive boat, (Cape,Contender, Yellowfin...) weighs close to 3800 pounds give or take 100 pounds. 21 ft palm beach with 150 Yamaha The yota should be able to tow this pretty good if not I will add 4.56 and a locker to help give it some pep

The TW folks get together on kinda an consistently inconsistent basis, and stuff just pops up here in this thread or over in the offroad thread. (http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/south-east/215769-alabama-off-road-mods-meets-thread-88.html)

Sometimes there are several meets back to back, sometimes it may be a couple of months. There are a couple of us who still hang around even though we're post-tacoma, like Paul (FlawedXJ) and me.

I also hang out with some guys here in town that are Toyota 4x4 enthusiasts as part of a TLCA club. We have monthly meetings every second Wednesday of the month at Cahaba Brewing Company in downtown B'ham around 7:30PM. It goes until everyone quits hanging out in the parking lot. Info on our junk can be found over on mud at:
http://forum.ih8mud.com/al-dixieland-cruisers/ We're always looking for folks to come hang out, ride, and / or drink beer. It's a fun crowd.

you shouldn't have any problems towing that boat my boat is 21ft and around the same weight with a 225 merc. My 2010 tacoma pulls it just fine and with the lift I have it still has a slight rake so when tow anything it sits level.
