It is not necessarily recommended to run the 5100's at 2.5'', but many do and they have no problems. Just expect a fairly rough ride (which I'm sure you already have with spacers) because you are pre-loading the shock and not lifting using the springs. It should be fairly level with the Bilstein's at 2.5'' in the front and the 1.5'' TSB AAL.

thanks for the quick reply....my frt spacer is made by some guy the sells them on ebay....its basically the same as a pro comp 2.5 spacer that sits on top of the shock rather than on top of the spring...so no spring compressor needed and ride pretty much feels same as factory...
why is it not recomended to run the shocks at 2.5"?
I figure that if i them at 1.75" w/ the 1 1/2" aal in rear then the truck will have too much rake to it..? what you think?

im looking at it as if i have no lift in frt and starting from ground zero....what are your thoughts on 1.75 in frt and 1 1/2 in rear?
also, my truck has 80,000 on the orig frt springs....if that matters

It's not recommended for 2.5'' because at that setting, you are preloading the shock and not lifting using the spring (preferred method). From what I understand, basically, you are allowing the shock to take a lot of the "bounciness" of the suspension instead of the spring. But, like I said before, a lot of people run the shock set at 2.5'' with no issues.

With the 1.75'' in front and 1.5'' AAL in the rear, you would have about 1.5'' of rake after the AAL settles, because with the 1.75'' up front and regular TSB springs, the rear is still higher by 0.5''-1''.

This is my truck with Bilstein's at 1.75'' and TSB AAL, just to give you an idea of what it looks like without the 1.5'' AAL.

are you talking about the toyota tsb aal's or the 1.5" aal i will be putting on?
i already had the tsb toyota aal done last year or the year before....
I see what your saying about the 2.5" and not allowing the spring to help....in biking alot of times peeps will run a shorter coil on their shock than what the stroke actually is and they'll get whats called spring collapse which is basically the individual coils will touch under compresssion before the entire anount of shock travel is used...asked the toytec dude about that cuz it is one of my concerns w/ setting the frt at 2.5" and using the stock coils.

Just so i am clear....if i put the toytec 1.5" aal on my exisiting tsb aal and set the frt at 1.75"...the truck will still have a rake to it??? sorry to sound like a dumbass...but this is all so new to me...like just started looking yesterday morning and bought yesterday evening:eek:

Yes, it will probably have about 1'' - 1.5'' of rake if you set the fronts at 1.75''. If you look at my picture above, that is Bilstein's at 1.75'' and the Toyota TSB AAL. (NOT the 1.5'' AAL that you are putting on) With this setup, I am almost level, with the rear only being higher by about 0.5''.

awesome thanks Matt!!!! really appreciate it:D
this makes me feel alot better knowing things will work better on my taco!!!!
BTW, im in ashburn so figure if you want or if you all do another meet up...Im down to show what mine looks like...
I actually want some rake (close to factory) cuz alot of times im hauling six 40lb. bikes and six guys up the fire roads in fredrick Md. and w/ no lift/extra load weight capacity..im bottoming the back pretty bad:(
I also build alot of trail features out there and just last week i had a heavy ass load of cut trees that sagged the rear real bad....

also...i see ur a firefighter? in Loudoun? if so what station?

Well, we have meets every 2nd Tuesday, but the location changes. We're planning to have the one in January at Buffalo Wing University in Fairfax City. And we're also having a mod / meet day at PinkTaco69's house on the 13th of January. The meet thread is posted here.

I'm a volunteer at Station 9 in Arcola.

Yep! He works for the MWAA (Metropolitan Washington Airport Authority) fire department now but he still comes by for station training and meetings. Very cool about your family, LCFR has really exploded since then.

My only limitation, I need to be home by 1530 to grab my daughter from the nanny. Shoot me a pm, I know it's a bit impromptu, but he'll I didn't know I had a nanny today ;)
