Well, im getting married! September 28th is the date. We are planning on taking a 2-3 week roadtrip out west for our honey moon. Ive never done anything like this before and need some input. I know many of you travel out west and know some of the great things to see. Some of the things we definetly want to see will be Colorado, I am particulaly interested in Silverton, also Engineer, Black bear, Ophir and Imogene passes. We have family in Salt lake city and Torrey Utah so we will be swinging through there. I defiently want to do some trails in Moab as well. We want to stop in Vegas and turn around at Sequoia National Park. I think while we are out there we should also see the Grand Tetons and Yellowstone. We will be camping some and staying in hotels as well.

My truck is completely stock and it will only be the two of us. Are these trails too difficult with a stock vehicle? Am i being too ambitious? Am i pushing my luck trying to do this in October? Give me some ideas of other great trails and sights and country to see while we are out there.

Also, what type of gear should i plan to take, obviously all of my camping gear, im thinking of getting a cap for the trip and possibly an RTT setup. Do i need sliders?

    Give me your thoughts!

I would go through the smoky mountains. Check out Deal's Gap. I don't know how fun that would be in a truck. It's a paved road ha. Eat a 72oz in Amarillo, TX. Drive through Death Valley. There is so many places you can go in the country. You could spend months doing it all I bet. Congrats on getting married.

Sounds like a lot of driving already, but if you happen to get a little further north and west, I would recommend a Snake River jet boat trip out of White Bird, Idaho. Once you're that far north, Glacier National Park is an area worth seeing as well.

Here's my last trip from August:

    http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/off-roading-trails/234994-homertaco-goes-west-road-trip.html

    Must see things IMO:

    Devils Tower

    Mount Rushmore

    Yellowstone

    Grand Tetons

Also if you are doing Utah and Las Vegas:

    Zion National Park

    Bryce Canyon National Park

    Sedona & Oak Creek Canyon

    Lake Havasu

I don't care what anyone says - DO IT! These types of trips are things you remember forever. My wife & I roadtripped down to Florida the day after our wedding.

We refer to it as the "Baby Grand Canyon". You can view it from the rim, go in on a tour, or have a native drive your Taco in.
    We went in this.

I forgot you can also go in on overnight horseback camping trips. That's how we plan on going the next time.

You are going to love the west. The beauty of our country is really breathtaking. Congrats, as well!

Definitely stop in the old mining towns in Colorado. There are so many, just do a quick google search. You can even stop in Cripple Creek to do some gambling or do scenic train rides.

    My thoughts...

skip the road trip. take a flight to the Bahama's and island hop the Caribbean for 3 weeks by boat.

driving and camping is no honeymoon.

If you're going as far as Sequoia. You might as well hit Yosemite also. It's a few hours away.
