Maintenence Required Light On?

When i turn on my truck it blinks MAINT. REQ but then goes away after about 6 secs. with truck on? why is this? I dont know if its always done it but i just noticed recently?

 

Wow...This is like the third thread in the past few days about the same thing.

It's a dummy light to remind you to change your oil. Starts blining @ 4500 miles since last reset. 5000 it'll com on solid. Check the Mods and Tutorials link up top to learn about resetting it.

 

Yea and apparently nobody knows how to read the owners manual or even search the site.

 

4500 miles seems a little early...isn't it supposed to come on when you hit a point that your oil is all sludge?

 

Nope...It's set to remind you the mileage that the manufacturer recommends. Starts flashing @ 4500 to let you know you need to schedule an appointment, 5000 it goes solid to let you know you REALLY need an appointment. Both according to the stealership that is trying to make $$$$$ off you.

PS Pretty sure you were being sarcastic...

 

Just wondering?? Are the maint lights only activated on the US Tacos? I have an 07 do all oil changes myself and have never seen that light nor reset it.

I think people would be a little more lenient with newer members, not ones that have almost 1500 posts

 

It's personal preference/opinion on my part- I don't get mad...It's the internets...I take very little serious on the internets.


But all the answers for you to fix your truck were there for the taking in pretty easy/obvious places-but you chose to ask someone else to hand you the answer. Might be dick for me to think you are a bit lazy...but that's how it comes off to me. ::shrug::
