I saw a Jeep Cherokee rolled over on some train tracks down the street from me. Sometimes I want to see these accidents in action to see how people pull this shit off!

 

I just sliced a trash bag apart. Did mine today with ford oil and a Bosch filter. Fucking dealer had no 3RZ filters

 

Well not only does the cardboard (eventually) soak up any spilled oil, it somewhat acts like a cushion for the ground too.

 

In Abington I saw someone make a wrong turn and drive a Chevy Cavalier onto the train tracks for the commuter rail..in fairness it looks like the street they were going for is there if you're not familiar with the area but jeez this meathead drove a good 50 feet down the tracks.

Yeah I was a passenger in someone's car when they decided at the fork they would go straight down the middle on the tracks.

 

I change mine when is roasting hot. Like 3 hours hot. Comes out so fast.

 

I try to change mine after the truck has been sitting for a day so there is less oil in the filter. Who's idea was it to mount the filter upside down???

 

Probably the same dumbass who designed the leaf springs

 

You should always have your truck at running temp before changing the oil .
I love the upside down filter . Easiest oil change ever . No burning your arm on the header . Plus it has a drip tray into the water bottle . How can you not like it .

Amen..I earned everything I have and didn't get handouts.

 

One of my cars had the filter at a 45 degree angle on the side of the block, almost impossible to make a mess with it.

 

I wish they extended the lines another couple inches, that would have been the best! It's in a weird place to get loose. Or, the upside down filter low in the engine bay. So it just spins off, no mess, all the oil stays in the filter.

 

What lines ?

The filters I use have the nut on top, so I just use a socket.

 

The supply and return lines that go to and from the filter. It would have been nice if they mounted it up a little higher. When the Toyota Gorilla decides to use a pipe wrench to install the filter, I've found that it's hard to get off if it's really stuck on there because you're working down between the battery and the engine.

I have a filter wrench but the Toyota filters don't seem to hold up well with it.

 

I either use a pair of large Channel locks or a three finger filter wrench that tightens the more you turn it similar to this http://www.sears.com/shc/s/p_10153_...P&srccode=cii_17588969&cpncode=32-218846880-2
