I know where the 24mm fill plug for the AT on a 2wd rig but I can't find the fill plug on the 4x4 4.0 model. Does anybody have any pictures they can post or a treasure map to head me to that elusive "ws" plug.

    THANKS

    DC

I appreicate the post. I too found that when I searched the site for plug locale. #7 is for a manual trans. Looking for the drain plug on a Auto Trans with 4x4. Am I missing it?

I saw in the DIY Trans flush sticky thread there is a picture of the fill plug but the tranny illustraded is 2wd AT. The 4wd Trans is fuller bodied at the tail to match up to the transfercase and the fill plug is not in the same locale as the 2wd.

Anybody know where this bad boy is?

    Quaker -

I appreciate the post - the thread that you referred to is the one that I had seen before and mention in post #3. The link you gave me is for a 2wd transmission fluid change. The thread shows wherre the fill plug is on the 2wd but it doesn't illustrate where the plug is on a 4wd tranny. As I mentioned in post #3 the transmissions are different to accomodate the 4X4 transfercase. So with that said the fill plud is in a different locale on the 4x4 than on a 2wd.

So thus the reason for my original question -

Does anybody know where the fill plug is on a 08 4x4 4.0L Auto transmission?

    Thanks Again -

Here is the PDF for fluid level adjustment. Shows location for fill and overflow plugs (to get the proper fluid level) Good luck!

Full service manuals for all tacomas basically.

I don't imagine they are allowed to distribute that so I made a local copy. I suggest you do the same.

    Enjoy!

it the same on drain plug, but you need a pump to fill in the fluid, when it full fluid will come back out, when you drain the trans measure how much fluid come out, and refill just a little above the amount that come out.

    Bottom of the pan..so fun.

Make sure to catch and measure everything you take out. And out in the same amount. Boom done.

Does anybody have picture they can help with? I have the 4x4 as well and its different from the 2wd. I cant seem to find where the fill plug is. Ive read through the 23 pages on the earlier thread that was mentioned but didn't see anyone mention the 4wd. Iknow its an old thread but the search function didn't help me much and I didn't really see a need to create a new thread
