yep still your old ones. they are working good, just a little too rough without any weight in the bed. that is because the chevy springs are a little too long, ive been meaning to cut them but havent got around to it

im going to mount my hi-lift on the front face under the kobalt sign then get some 2x2 square LED lights and mount them on the top so i can see behind me when wheelin at night (and for tailgater deterrent).

only regret is that i should have painted it black before mounting it. i hate chrome

speaking of painting things black, should i paint my new switch panel black or leave the aluminum?

A lot of what this guy said. If you go the spacer route for the front coils, get a top plate spacer instead of a coil spacer. It won't compress the springs, which makes the ride harsher. I wouldn't lift more than an inch or two this way. The bilsteins would be the better way to go on a budget.

Second the add-a-leaf option over getting lift blocks. Blocks put too much stress on the u-bolts and the leaf pack.

I've been dinking around on the truck this weekend. Mocked up the hi-lift mounts on the front bumper. Not really digging it. Snapped some pics. From the front of the truck:

    From the driver's seat:

BTW, got my appointment at Desert Rat this Friday morning to get the OME 882s installed and the front end re-aligned. I need to get a build page going here one of these days...

agreed. Also gives me the heeby-jeebies having a 40lb i-beam staring me in the face, waiting to snap off and hurl itself through the windshield.

Starting to look through the bed mounting options.

hahaha yea and who knows what would happen to it if you ever got in an accident.

they make bars that you can bolt from side to side, a lot of people mount hi-lifts to that.

I've been looking for one but everyone seems to build there own these days. Maybe I can sweet talk Cloudy into throwing together a prototype.

You still eyeing the Allpro rear bumper? It is black and would match your front bumper.

Well, my driver's side exterior door handle finally bit the big one this morning.

It's been getting worse for almost a year now, so I knew it was going to break eventually.

I found a replacement at RockAuto for $43, seems reasonable. Also found a lot of info on here on how to replace it, doesn't look too difficult. I even have the correct Snap-On door panel fastener removal tool. :washing:

I'm going to have to do this pronto; it's a pain to have to unlock the passenger door to go in & open the driver's door from the inside.

This is the first thing on my truck that has broken due to Toyota, as opposed to being my fault. The door handle design is inferior. I have around 97k miles on my truck; bought it new. I don't yank or jerk on the door handles, either. Apparently, this is not an uncommon problem w/ the 1st gens.
