    You're onto something there.

In general, it is wise to invest at LEAST $1500 in a brand new full suspension mountainbike. $2000 in a full suspension will insure that you are riding on a frame and suspension (usually base model Fox stuff like float rp23 and fox float R) that will warrant acceptable repair and investment. That is to say, if you can spend that much money the first time, you'll get a bike that not only rides well, but later when you want to put some money into it, you'll find that the cost of service and upgrades will not be as much a shock as if you bought a $1000 FS MTB that now needs $250 in parts and service (1/4 the cost, vs 1/8 of the cost of the bike).

I've been out of the industry for about 2 years, but I was in the thick of it for 6 years, so I may not be exactly up to date, but I can tell you a 32mm stanchion RockShox fork still takes a seperate oil seal and dust wiper, where as a fox uses an integrated unit blah blah blah...

Dual batteries does necessitate a higher output alternator.
More electronic stuff does not necessitate dual batteries.

If you've got a bunch of electronics, a second battery isn't going to help that problem one bit. When the truck is running, everything runs off the alternator. Batteries are only used when the truck is turned off. The solution in this situation is a higher output alternator.

The main purpose IMO of a dual batteries is isolation. You can have all your accessories (fridges, winch, lights, etc) on the secondary battery. If it runs dead for whatever reason, no big deal, you still have your main battery to get home. And using a winch on a non-deep cycle battery is asking for trouble. They continuous demanding electrical load they put on batteries is too much for a standard starting battery.

Run dual batteries with truck off. In electricity, the higher voltage takes the load. Keep truck off if concerned about the alternator.

RP23 is a decent shock. It's not a DHX but it does the job and you'll find it on most bikes in the $1000-$1500 price range. Which if you want to do any serious mtb riding, is the minimum you should budget.

Sorry dude but i'm not a fan of how those frames look, they look weak and unfinished; especialy behind the seat post, and have the tiniest front end gussets i've ever seen. And the racelink with all that extra chain nonesense is too many moving parts and unecessary weight.
They look like they were built 15 years ago with some of the first dh frames and refused to progress with the times, the geometry may have but certainly not asthetics or beffyness.
But thats just like, my opinion man. ;)

I get it dude, to each there own lol. However...Steel is real, and those things ride like butter...ZOMG. Been thinkin' about brushing up my welding skills and trying to make a frame (like I ever finish a project, let alone start one ).

Gotcha. I've seen a few builds where people have replaced the alternator to a higher powered one but for just someone that would use the winch every once in a while it probably wouldn't be needed, right?

Finally figured out what the hell was wrong with my truck.
Second cat was plugged up tighter than a virgins ass.

And since it's fixed, I went ahead and reinstalled the supercharger :burnrubber:
