I had a Morphine a while back. Awesome bike! Rode it everywhere including lift access DH. Really solid and fun as hell.

Heading out for a Saturday morning ride. The temp warmed up to the 40's earlier this week and we got some rain, but now it's back to the teens and the trails are nice and frozen solid. The snowmobile trails are fast as hell.

Well, we had some nice dry mid 70s this weekend so took my "new to me" frame up build out for it's 2nd trail ride. Last week had mysto chain issues on the inital trail ride so swapped in an unused one I had laying around as a spare and presto! flawless climbing and shifting. It was an AZ bike in it's previous life so I tried to confuse it with dense forest but it knew just what to do, lol. This thing kicked ass. Fork was great and rr shock matched up all fabulous. 18 miles we rode felt more like 8. Now that the issue with the chain has been solved, I trust it enough to put those eggbeater clip-ins back on for next ride.............

Im getting the itch for either a new bike or upgrading mine. (after I get my wife a bike)

Idk what I want though :goingcrazy: part of me just wants a light hardtail and the other part wants a full suspension bike. Im currently on a 07 hardrock hydro disk, it has Marzocchi MZ Race LO 100mm fork, sram x5 shifters, sram X9 rear der.

i feel you haha. I guess it depends on what the riding is like out there. I want to get a single speed 29er to play with at the trails around town. but i also have the urge to get rid of my full suspension 26er and get a "long travel" 29er, well i guess long travel for a 29er haha

Lol everyone got a Lotta money into some full suspension bikes. I got a Specialized Rockhopper 29er which I like a lot. Of course there are no huge downhill courses here, plus $1000 was enough bike for me.

I guess if 135mm is crazy then yeah but it works for me. Not stretched for the bars and the cockpit space is perfect. No lower back issue from stretching too far. I had it, it was black, it was heavy duty so I went with it. The end of the bars to where the seatpost meets the seat is right at 29" which seems to be the sweet spot for me as far as not feeling too close to bars and right posture. When standing on pedals crouched over bars the handle bar line is still back from front axle and IIRC, for XC, the suggested position for stuff is for the axle and handlebars to be close to lining up or something like that. I don't prefer riding XC with front tire way out in front of the bars. Always makes it too easy for me to pull wheelies on steep climbs. I tend to go with balance that keeps the front tire on the ground climbing & not endoish going down stuff that isn't airable. Usually that = 120-135mm stem for most of my offroad bikes. I've test rode bigger frames to get longer top tube and use shorter stem but didn't feel right and then there's standover height being too tall that comes with that. Now that may be different with all the new frames that have sloping curving top tubes but that isn't the case with the frames I has.............

no DH anywhere in sight. just single track and xc riding. I just found some trails a little north of me that have small mountains and lots of rocks.
I still want to make my current bike a 1x9...haha

idk my HT is about as heavy as a tank though. I feel like I could benefit from a lighter HT like this one

Yeah i feel you on that, everyone who rides fs 29ers says they just point and shoot haha which is what makes me hesitant to make the switch.
well as long as you like it! i prefer shorter stems, but i guess i ride rocky somewhat steep trails where i spend some time behind the saddle rather than over it.
if your gonna keep your hard rock then i would say an xc/trail full suspension. the stumpjumper is good, i like my trek fuel. im trying to think of other good trail bikes. maybe giant trance? im not sure what they offer.

as far as that sette, ive heard that people like the aluminum frames, havent heard anything about the carbon ones. ive seen people on mtbr rocking the chinese carbon frames and wheels and liking them so im sure the sette is good.

That is what I spent on my Stumpjumper FS..

I have mine where I can push the bike out in front to drop on steep shit and also where I can be over the front somewhat for climbing. For a mostly rocky, steep terrain like up in Austin area, I do have one of my bikes set up for that where it has shorter stem and teh seat just adj back and down a bit. With the number I have, there's always one that is set up for most anything I would ride but most are set up for where I ride most which is mix of rocks and forest, slightly to moderately hilly. No more crazy death defying shit for me though, no more body parts to spare at this point in my life. Not sad about not having Xgames sponsors though, lol. Out for fun and exercise and seeing the countryside.
