Vinyl or Magnetic Hood Sticker to Reduce Glare?

I have searched for a minute but came up short and was wondering if TW would like to share your solutions to the glare from the hood, more specifically, the super awesome faux hood scoop? I was thinking of getting a vinyl sticker but then I remembered seeing those large magnets advertisements and thought that would be an idea. It allows you to remove and replace without damage and therefore wont hurt the paint or cause color difference in the exposed/not exposed parts of the hood. What do you think?

Wrap it with 3M wrap, check YouTube out
Use Matte black

the scoop is contoured so the magnet thing will be tuff. I would go with plastidip or even flat black paint. I never noticed a glare with mine, more than off any other hood.

 

Wouldn't mind having something like this as well. Anyone know of any place to buy one or maybe a member that makes/sells them precut for the hood?

but only for NON hood scoop hoods...hood scoop makes vinyl wrap VERY difficult (maybe impossible?)

 

That would work but why doesn't it go all the way down to the end of the hood??

Expensive and I bet the material is not very forgiving for placement errors....

 

They all seem to be for non-scoop hoods. Might have to contact someone for a one off order or buy a sheet and cut it out myself.

 

I thought sockmonkey had 1 or 2 that covered just the scoop.

My plan is to put on a big enough scoop so that the sun can't get inside.





Seriously, I think the vinyl would probably be alright instead...

 

Had my hood done with the 3M vinyl last summer. Works very well. Knocks the bright-pinpoint, eyeball searing glare down to a more reasonable diffused light. You won't be able to get rid of all the glare, but it really helps.

Good stuff, thats close to what I wanted.

I checked out places that wrap entire cars and they could do the entire hood, or even just the scoop, but its a bit more coin than I think it is worth. Decal is my first option, wrapping it myself is next.

I know I will still get some glare but last time I drove through a pass in the afternoon I had to pull over it was so bad. Granted I was on Ortega Hwy, a 55 mph, no protection road with a thousand-foot-drop cliff for those that haven't ventured through it.

 

i did that 5 yrs ago....way too much vinyl and major pain to get on flawlessly.
