view is from dead horse point

the road you see below can be accessed from potash road...continue up the road and it'll bring you to the trail that accesses canyonlands..it's a great trail to explore on as you are following the colorado a majority of the time then dumps you into the base of canyonlands (near shafer switchbacks) where you can hook up with the white rim trail

I recently got promoted and to keep the promotion I have to take a 2 week leadership course within one year of getting promoted, well I don't get to pick the dates... and it landed on the Moab trip....

The other is my usual 2 weeks of training in the summer (Annual Training or AT for short) and it is the first couple week of August...

The reason why it is possible for me to maybe make the August meet, is that funds are tight (Thanks Obama and Congress...) and to fulfill our contract we just need to do 2 weeks in the summer, so they may tell me that they don't have the budget to pay me twice and not let me go to AT, but we will see if that happens or not.

Why Viair? I was looking at the specs between Viair and ARB compressors a few months ago and ARB's compressors are rated at higher airflow (at least up to 29 psi, I wish ARB rated their airflow at 90psi).

    ARB CKMA - 0psi:2.65CFM 29psi:2.18CFM
    Viair 480C - 0psi:1.76CFM 30psi:1.52CFM

    ARB CKMTA - 0psi:6.16CFM 29psi:4.65CFM
    Viair Dual 480C's - 0psi:3.53CFM 30psi:2.86CFM

I see pro's and con's to both of the dual systems.

    Pro's:
    ARB:
-Only have to wire up one compressor instead of 2
-a lot more air flow in the tire filling psi range
-Doesn't need a regulator to run an ARB locker
    Viair:
    -Slightly cheaper
    -can run higher than 90psi

    Cons:
    ARB:
-Can't run higher than 90 psi for if you are filling tanks
    -Slightly more expensive
    Viair:
-Will require a regulator so you don't damage an ARB locker
-Have to mess with wiring up 2 compressors and connecting them into one tank/fill line
-less air flow when filling tires

I don't plan on purchasing and running air tools or hauling a huge tank around with me and two sets of tools (air and non air), so I don't need more than 90psi since having a tank will also make filling tires slower since it will have to fill both the tank and the tire at the same time.

I'd take the ARB compressor over dual 480C's due to the big increase in airflow and it is only about $50 more right now.

    Just my thoughts on that.

Um you missed on big con for the ARB its not HD and pulls the same amps no matter what i use it for where as i can only run one for lockers and two for airing up tires. Mean while when your arb finnaly takes a shit (cuz all things wear and fail) i still have a back up. Wirring/ plumbing in two compressors is no big (i mean really who are you talking about here). Also no regulator needed because i have a 90psi limit switch already sucka. lastly the cost difference is a handle of honey jack so better rethink your answere there.

You upgraded to a bigger alternator so what does it matter if it draws extra amps, it still draws way less than a winch.

True, I thought about the fact that if one failed you have a back up, not sure why I didn't list that though. haha

And I know the plumbing wouldn't be an issue for you. haha Mostly I was just wondering why everyone goes for the Viair compressors when (at least on paper) the ARB compressor are better and cost almost the same.

    I are :jellydance:

I wish I could hire you to do that mod to my truck, but it seems like it took A LOT of work and doesn't seem like something you would want to do for someone else...:(

for as much as i use air they will work just fine. And Brady we go for viair cuz they are high quality shit and a lower cost with more option in the end. just saying.

Yeah... I'm not holding my breathe. Last year they told the guys that went to WLC that they probably wouldn't have the funds to send them to AIT but they decided they did at the last minute... haha
