Been swamped at work and by the time I get home I'm pretty much ready to sleep. And I got a puppy.

It's good. It's a lot to keep track of, I'm kind of a combination geotech/geosteerer/prospect geologist/file clerk. And I'm trying to learn to use Petra on the fly. I am currently steering 2 wells, have 2 waiting for rig moves, and one waiting for a rig to be under contract. And I hope they take their time signing the contract :)

My first thought was "what's with Russia and meteors?" But Russia is such a huge land mass, not like Wales gets a ton of meteors.
I know that we have been tracking near-earth objects for quite some time. My guess is that a 10 ton rock is simply too small to track in space, plus while it's destructive sure, but by no means is it a planet-wide type of threat.

Also my advisor ok'd me to file my diploma application with the university. Graduation ceremony in May, finish my thesis over the summer and get that monkey off my back. Also I'm going to ask my supervisor if I can present my thesis research as a lunch-n-learn and let all the geologists I work with grill me so ill be ready to defend my thesis.

But the especially cool thing about getting to officially graduate in May is that my dad will also be getting his PhD at the very same graduation. :) His goal was to get it done before I finish my thesis, so he'll beat me by a couple months :D

Conodont biostratigraphy of Mississippian-age limestone of southwest Missouri.

"Blah blah blah limestone blah blah Missouri."

Thanks! Way excited. I'm terrified of having my colleagues grill me but I think my thesis committee will go easier on me than my coworkers would so that's probably the best way to prepare.

I won't lie and say I didn't have to look those terms up :p But once I did I understand it, looking for conodonts in rock biostratigraphy is a common way to date right?

Yes. But if you can't get a date I'm single. :p

Sorry. Yes, biostratigraphy is a way to date rocks. It's also a way to identify flooding surfaces (from sea level changes), which is helpful in both climate change research and oil and gas exploration.

Well if being able to ID rocks turns you on, I'm afraid you're outta my league then, to me rocks are: Do they need to move? Where do I move them to? How good does this rock look in a landscape grouping and can I do it in the classic Japanese arrangement?:p

Fancy  So, I am going to school in Mississippi starting in Augurst, how far would I have to dig before I find coal in Starkville, Mississippi?
