Pop at engine area when shutting down 2013 taco, help?

When I turn the truck off, I hear I vacuum sound then a small and faint pop noise coming from the engine. I got the truck with 160 miles and now it has1,700 miles, it still happens; everytime am shutting it off. I have not overreacted and taken it to the dealership , should I? Is this normal?

 

Check engine light on?

 

sounds like the smog pump. Apparently a normal noise for you new model guys.

 

No check engine light on, in the 1,700 miles it has total.

Why would this be an issue if in the past it was not? Why would it cause a small faint pop noise? Possible cycling still while in shutdown mode?

 

When I owned my 2011 DC it didn't do this. I got my 2013 and it has been doing it since day one. From what I have been told from other members on this site, it's normal.

On mine it happens which seems like every shutoff. Hot, cold, rain...etc. there are times I may not hear it, but It's there. Have you asked any technicians and/or dealership?

 

Weird, mine is a 2013 Prerunner as well, mine has that noise.

 

Any way we can verify this? It would be good to find out. This is obviously my first truck/Tacoma.

 

I'm not sure, maybe ask the dealer if the part #'s are different?

Have you seen or heard a pattern of when it happens?

 

Short drives where the truck hasn't warmed up completely

 

I'm not exactly sure what causes the sound, but my 2013 V6 makes the same noise when shut off too. I wouldn't worry about it.

 

it could be the smog pump but I don't even know what that is I know the old term for it was secondary air injection

 

My Truck does it also. It has about 600 miles on it now. When I shut it off, I thought the noise was coming from the clutch fan. I will have it looked at by the service dept. on my 5k service. It really doesnt bother me. I just find it odd. Gives the truck a personality.
