I know, i went to that thread and even went to their website already.

 

Surprisingly Toyota leads in "most american made cars", both in overall ranking and highest number of cars on the list:

I think I read somewhere (one of the freakenomics books?) that it's due to the strength of the Japanese Yen vs the American Dollar, but Toyota makes all of their cars here in the USA with the exception of hybrid vehicles, as their battery manufacturing is done in Japan.

 

I'm pretty sure they provide more manufacturing jobs here too... don't quote me on that one

 

I know ABC nightly news did a thing with their "Made in America" and the Toyota Camry beat all others with total amount that is made in America (down to the parts and where they come from)

As for the manufacturing, Toyota does still havea few regular (nonhybrid) vehicles that are made in Japan, but the vast majority of their cars are made in America.

 

Toyota has 25+ billion in the bank...All Toyota profits go to Japan.,,, always follow the $$$$,,, Its not a bad thing to me cuz they make top of the mark cars & trucks..If not for them GM,, ford would still be making POS cars & trucks.Alot still are but they are trying to make better ones and that would have never happened without Toyota & others kicking there ass Back in the 70's, 80's, 90's.. Just my 2c

You are right....follow the money...but Toyota is starting to employ more and more Americans, I'm pretty sure more than the "american" car companies do, in NON UNION positions. Americans on the ground making money and spending money here is what strengthens our economy...not CEO's and corporate heads that stay rich no matter what.

Sure, GM cars' profits filter back into the company, which is US based...but that doesn't mean shit if GM needs millions of our tax dollars to stay in business.

Huge middle finger to the American people...when our gov't gives them our money, and they make shitty cars built in brazil with chinese parts.

Tacomx hit the nail right on the head! What's it matter if $25 billion is in Japan's banks or US banks? It's where the jobs are, supporting the economy.
