Hello all - Just got into a brand new Tacoma access cab TRD Of-Road with the V6 and six speed manual. Had to trade in my '06 Subaru WRX STi in and I miss it terribly, so I'm going to need some help having some fun. Help me out here!

Thanks, all. First purchase (at the recommendation of a co-worker and former Tacoma owner): 200 lbs of sand and gravel for the bed. Only about $12, but I imagine it will get much worse...

Welcome from a born and raised West Roxbury boy. Oh ya you wont need that sand and gravel unless it is to help someone else in a nissan :). You will be surprised what your truck will do

O rly? I'm practically sitting on top of bellevue hill, great place this.

Haven't really noticed much of a traction difference, but the truck does feel more planted with some weight in the bed, I guess that's what it was designed for.

    Only two complaints so far:
    1. The foot well must have been designed for someone with size seven feet. I wear safety toe boots to work every day, and I have to tread carefully down there to keep from running into things like the dead pedal when clutching. The pads also sit about in the arch of my foot unless I point my toes quite a bit, but I'm getting used to it.
    2. The rugged trails that came on the thing are crap. We just had some lovely weather up here and these tires are worse in the snow than the summer tires I had on my STi. New tires might be my next purchase.

On the plus side, I've settled into the Tacoma in only a few days. I normally take a couple of weeks to feel comfortable in a new vehicle, but I'm already feeling pretty good driving around in six inches of snow (despite the crappy tires). Looking forward to some real adventuring this summer.

I drive through that intersection a couple times a week. Small world...though I guess this is the internet.

Yeah, even though traction sucked driving faster than about a brisk run, I could not get the thing stuck. I was blowing through plow berms and deep snow all morning. Still, I do enough winter highway driving that I want a good tire between me and the road. Maybe I'll wait until next fall to look into that. What's another good first mod?

Depends on your wants and needs. I did a bed cover first. I just did a tailgate lock also to go with the cover, it is not 100% secure cause the cover is soft but it will keep honest people honest

My first mod besides accesories was the satoshi grill, thats a good one, but you have a newer style grill so its alot of work, maybe a grill craft insert, they look badass

Finally, some sun and spare time. A tad dirty, but here's a picture. WeatherTech mats on order, thinking about a tonneau next...small steps, easy on the wallet.
