Steering wheel shake might be entirely different issue, possibly front suspension/brake related, but not sure. I don't feel any steering wheel vibrations at any speed.

I have a 13 DCLB. I noticed the shudder almost immediately. I mentioned it to the service manager at orientation, and he knew exactly what I was talking about--even asked me, "is it a double cab, long bed?" Said they are aware of the issue and are "working on it." Said the fix might be something to control vibration where the cab is attached to the frame. THEN, I discovered the threads here on TW, and got pissed. I took the truck in for service (because it failed to start on the first try four times in the first 3 weeks I had it) and told them what I had learned about the shudder. They purported to thoroughly document it (even keeping the truck an extra day) and said they had "opened a case" with Toyota so that it would be brought to their attention. Otherwise, they tell me that it's "characteristic" of the model, and probably nothing to worry about. I'm yanked--I wish I had known before I bought the truck. I never really considered any other truck (had an 03 Tundra prior to this) because I trust Toyota. Now--not so sure!

Ive learned 2 things from this experience...

    1. I will never buy another new vehicle again. im going to modify it and play with it anyways

    2. anything i do buy im going to join a forum for that vehicle and spend a month researching it.

i hate that I pay that much a month for a truck that vibrates and squeals down the road. i absolutely do not trust toyota. they are profiting but not fixing. it shouldnt take this long.

I think what needs to be done is every single tacoma owner with this problem needs to go onto toyotas facebook page and post that we want a fix... I bet that would get them going.

I have an 07 access cab, V6, 4x4 and my vibration/shutter is different as I only feel it from stop at idle to about 20 mph. Is this similar and could I fix the vibration with the same repairs?

They were "unable to duplicate" the issue. So, I'm SOL. But at least it hasn't happened since then.

As for complaining via Toyota's FB page, it appears that the page is solely for their self-promotion and that they've been deleting any negative posts. So much for that...

It looks to me like the slip joint isn't doing its job, like it is sticking and not moving with the suspension and twist of the rear axle. Which is causing a binding in the drive shaft, hense the vibration. No grease fitting doesnt help either. They probably put the least amount of grease on it as posible at the factory.

I read the TSB posted here at the end of December (TSB-0249-12). I got busy, with the holidays and all that crap, and finally got around to calling the Dealership a few weeks ago. I said, "So, I see there's been a TSB issued. Are you prepared to take a look at my truck now?" They gulped and farted and passed me around to about four different people, and agreed to have me bring in the truck for a few days. (Would you believe they weren't even going to give me a loaner at first??) I dropped it off Tuesday evening for them to begin working on it on Wednesday. I was told I'd probably have it back on Friday. Thursday I got a voicemail saying that the first of the three "fixes" in the TSB had failed, and that they would go on to the next step. Friday they called to say that all three attempts to fix the issue had failed. Toyota Regional advised them to swap out my driveline for another truck in their inventory, but they didn't have one of the same configuration (double cab, long bed). So, they removed the driveline and sent it out to a super-duper special driveline specialist in the area. But that guy was gone on Friday afternoon and wouldn't have a chance to get to it until Monday. This is Sunday night. Stay tuned. At least the Rav4 loaner isn't too bad... Gosh, I wonder if my truck will ever be the same. Hmmm....

    Stock for now...
I had the TSB 0249-12 performed on my '08 on 02/25/13 , one month after getting this Certified Used POS with only 14,355 miles on the clock . It's basically for replacing the rear trans mount ( part #12371-31250 , insulator - engine) under powertrain warranty . Directly at the bottom of my invoice ticket in the description box it states the whole complaint along with comments from the technician - vibration felt , tsb performed , vibration fixed . From the timeline of that day (spent 4hrs sitting in the dealership) I'd say the guy must have had a liquid lunch , it vibrated right out of the parking lot with the same frequency it had prior to them working on it . Had to make an appointment that afternoon so I blew it off for later . The more I read here , screw them - called the 800 number and now have a pending case on it , awaiting a phone call . They have until Tuesday evening to respond , Wednesday my temper gets involved . I will not tolerate bs like this from any manufacturer , just ask Dodge about my Dakota ....
